Product Scope is a description of all the features


and functions that characterize a product,
service or result.

Project scope is a description of all the work that


needs to be performed to deliver a product or
service, or result with the specified features.
Definitions

Product Scope Statement is a description of the


scope, the major deliverables, the assumptions,
constraints and exclusions of the project.

Collecting requirements is the process of


determining, documenting, and managing
stakeholder needs and requirements to meet the
set objectives.

The process helps to provide the basis for


defining both the product and the project scope.

Definitions
To define the project scope means to develop a
detailed description of the product and the
project.

It describes the product, service, result


boundaries and acceptance criteria.

Product Scope description: A set of conditions that is
required to be met before deliverables are accepted.

Project exclusions: Identifies what is excluded from the


project by stating explicitly what the project will not
cover. Guards against SCOPE CREEP.

Acceptance criteria: Progressively elaborates the
characteristics of the product/ service/ result described
in the project charter & requirements documents.

Deliverables: Any unique and verifiable product/ result/


capability to perform a service that is required to be
