The nation anthem of the Philippines “ LUPANG HINIRANG” was originally entitled “Marcha
Nacional Filipina”. It was composed by Julian Felipe in marchtime tempo and initially
performed by San francisco de malabon band at the proclamation of Independence day on
June 12, 1898 in kawit, Cavite.
Bamboo Organ - found in St. Joseph’s Church Las Piñas City. It is made of 902 bamboo
pipes.
Musikong Bumbong - are filipino marchimg bands that use woodwinds instruments.
The D’Original malabon musikong bumbong started as a plain BANDA DE BOCA ‘ means
bibig or mouth”. The Katipuneros was the first member of the band.
Pangkat Kawayan - popularly known as the “Singing Bamboos of the Philippines” is an
orchestra that plays music using non-traditional bamboo instruments.

Bumbong - or bamboo tube it is made of hollow pieces of bamboo that has been put together
and serve as the orchestra’s wind
Kalatok - or bamboo knocker a percussion instrument made of pieces of bamboos that are
strung together rith pieces of bamboo with varying tones whn struck by rubber mallet.
Tallunggating - bamboo marimba made from bamboo that follows the musical scale and style
of the typical xylophone.
Kalagong - a wind instrument that produces a hollow gong-like sound.
Pan pipes - smal, pieces of bamboo in graduated small tubes that has been put together by a

Tulali - a bamboo flute made of BAGA smallest bamboo varietes.
Kiskis - a bamboo piece with ridges and serves as a percussion intrument. Kiskis means to
scratch or to rub against someting.
TAKA
TAKA refers to paper mache made using carved wooden sculpture used as a mold. The craft
originated in the town of Paete, Laguna in the Philippines.
Maria Bague - known in Paete as Maria Piday, is the acknowledged pioneer in taka making,
starting in the 1920s

BALISONG
Balisong a.k.a “The butterfly knife”
The balisong has long been known as a beautiful and unique weapon of the Philippines. Also
known as the Batangas knife, butterfly knife, clik clik knife and more, the balisong gets its
common name from two words. The first is bali, which means to bend or to break in Pilipino,
and the second is song, derived from sungay, the horn of the water buffalo.
The balisong was once entirely made from the easily carved, plastic-like buffalo horn.
Because the knife folds or bends and was made of this horn, the combination of words,
balisong, became its name.
KIPING
Kiping is a traditional Filipino leaf-shaped wafer made from glutinous rice.
It originates from the city of Lucban, Quezon.
It is celebrated annually in the Pahiyas Festival. It can be eaten grilled or fried and can be
dipped in sugar, vinegar, or other sauces.
RIZAL PETROGLYPS
The Angono Petroglyphs are petroglyphs carved into a rock wall
in Angono, Rizal, Philippines. It consists of 127 human and animal figures engraved on
the rockwall probably carved during the late Neolithic, or before 2000 BC
The site has been declared by the National Museum of the Philippines as a National Cultural
Treasure in 1973.
It is also included in the list of the World Inventory of Rock Art in 1985 and historic sites of
the World Monuments Watch and World Monuments Funds and part of the Philippines'
tentative list of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
While Bicol region is known for its bags, baskets, and other hinabi crafts from Raffi Abaca.

DISCUSSION (HEALTH)
What is the role of the parents and mentor to the development of the adolescents?
Set clear rules and be consistent. Be a good role model for your child. Talk to your child about
sex, drugs, and alcohol.
Get involved in your child's activities. Stay in contact with his teachers. Get to know his
friends. Spend time with him and be there for him.
Learn the early signs of drug use, depression, and eating problems, such as anorexia or
bulimia. This can give you a chance to help your child before problems become serious.
Encourage good nutrition and at least 1 hour of exercise each day. Good nutrition includes
fruit, vegetables, and protein, such as chicken, fish, and beans.
Limit foods that are high in fat and sugar. Make sure he eats breakfast to give him energy for
the day.
