The Division Level Evaluation
and Humorous contests were
held in Tawau during the Divi-
sion K 15th Semi-Annual Con-
vention hosted by Tawau
Toastmasters Club. Rozana
Yunos and Zainal Bostaman
from Area K6 won the con-
tests respectively. The duo
went on to compete in Dis-
trict level in Jakarta and were
proud to return as first runner
-ups in their respective con-
tests.
The Division‘s Table Topics
and International Speech con-
tests will be held in Brunei on
20th March 2011 during the
Division K 15th Annual Con-
vention.

From Speakers to Trainers (STT)

The first modules covered by
STT was Speech Preparation
and Evaluation. These modules
were chosen as it would di-
rectly help members prepare
their manual speeches as part
of completing their educational
goals which is the main Critical
Success Factor of DCP.
As the Toastmasters from the
different Areas of the Division
attended the program, the
intention is to reach out to
their members in their respec-
tive Clubs or Areas.
Future modules of STT will
cover Mentoring, Speaking Off
the Cuff, Judges Training, Mo-
ments of Truth and Parliamen-
tary Procedures.
The STT was also conducted in
Brunei by Dunstan Chan, DTM
on 8th August 2010.

Semi-Annual Convention was or-
ganized by Tawau Toastmasters
Club under the leadership of Orga-
nizing Chairperson Rosslin Peter
Rosen, ACB, CL. She had a strong,
dedicated and committed team
supporting her to make the Con-
vention a magical, meaningful and
memorable event.
With over 100 Toastmasters at-
tending from Division K as well as
other visiting Toastmasters, the
Convention began with a unique
―All in One‖ Workshop where two
of the workshops were conducted
in English and one in Mandarin all
to the same audience. The dele-
gates of the Convention had the
opportunity to learn from three
accomplished speakers and were
thoroughly entertained and mes-
merized at the quality of the infor-
mation shared.
District 87 Governor Mohd Ariff
Azahari, DTM graced us with his
presence and shared with us a
workshop on EQ in Communica-
tion. Ray Chia, DTM presented a
very interesting workshop entitled

followed by a workshop conducted
by Dr Sarjit Sidhu, DTM from Dis-
trict 51 called Shine On very ap-
propriately themed according to
District 87‘s DARE TO SHINE!
With their personal styles and flair,
the workshop speakers all had the
audience participating and left
smiles on everyone‘s faces.
The night soon followed with the
theme Floral Night. The mood was
very relaxing yet energizing with
Lee Chye Ewe, DTM as the Master
of Ceremony. He certainly injected
enthusiasm to all the delegates.
Vera Yap, ATM-G, CL presented
her invocation which was truly
heartfelt and paved the way for the
Organizing Chairperson to deliver
her gratitude for a smooth running
event thus far. Delegates were
given a real treat with not only the
entertainment by V Young but also
being able to participate in a tradi-
tional bamboo dance. The food was
absolutely enticing with a generous
selection as well as an outdoor
barbecue. The Division K Gover-
nor Datin Grace Chiu, ACS, ALB
gave her address followed by Dis-

trict 87 Governor. They presented

It's been an exciting 6 months for
Area K4 and I am enjoying the role
of Area Governor, visiting the 5
clubs and witnessing the members
learning, growing and shining!
The months of July to October saw
the installations of each club's offi-
cers for the term 2010-2011. The
various clubs put on their Toast-
masters' hats in organizing their
Installation Ceremonies and put on
great shows. As with different club
cultures, each installation ceremony
was different, some were grand and
exciting, entertaining and (stomach)
filling; while others were cosy and
warm, showing sincerity and dedi-
cation to the mission of Toastmas-
ters International, that is, promot-
ing self-actualization, enhancing
leadership potential, fostering hu-
man understanding and contribut-
ing to the betterment of mankind.

proud moments for me!
