Rubio Monocoat Coating
®

Rubio® Monocoat WoodCream is a timber coating available on all Sculptform timber products. As a
water-based cream, the coating's water repellent properties protect the timber from moisture, even in
exterior applications. Rubio coatings are a low maintenance solution for any application, and provide
a sleek, natural matt finish to timber to preserve its grain patterns and variation.

A range of colours are available (see page 4), from clear coatings to pre-weathered and dark coatings.
Samples of any colour listed can be ordered for Click-on Battens or for Tongue and Groove Cladding.

Water repellent character for long-lasting protection
Rubio is a water-based cream, which makes wood water repellent after treatment. This results in a
long-lasting pearl effect. Just like on a duck, after a rainfall the water does not penetrate into the wood,
but simply slides off. This pearl effect increases the durability of the wood and also considerably slows
down the growth of algae and moss. Because Rubio penetrates deeply into the wood and yet is vapour
permeable it increases the insulation value of the wood.

Self-cleaning function
This pearl effect also has a self-cleaning function. Raindrops slide off the wood immediately and
on their way down, take with them whatever dust is on it. It will therefore take much longer for the
vertical wood to look dirty.

Maintenance
Rubio coatings are a low maintenance option to protect timber for all applications. For exterior
applications, visual inspections are recommended every 6 months to check for issues with any
external timber. Maintenance is typically required every 2-4 years depending on conditions such as
climate and level of UV exposure.

Interior applications do not typically require maintenance, however for specific circumstances such as
interiors exposed to UV through glass, visual inspections are still recommended.
