Aims to develop the essential troubleshooting skills and questioning techniques that are
required to accurately diagnose and resolve PC software or hardware issues. Topics include:
components, portable devices, operating systems, networks, security, safety and
environmental issues, communication and professionalism.
This course will develop your knowledge and practical skills in the administration of a
windows network infrastructure. You will assess the most appropriate and effective methods
for implementing and managing a windows network infrastructure, through an exploration of
the following topics: IP addressing and services, name resolution, network access, file and
print monitoring and management.

Active Directory (MCITP: SA, EA) £420
Aims to develop the skills required to administer an active directory infrastructure on a server
operating system.
This course will develop your knowledge and practical skills in the administration of a windows
application infrastructure. Topics include terminal services, web service infrastructure and
network application services.
The course provides knowledge skills and understanding of a Windows server operating
system. Topics include server deployment, server management, monitoring and maintaining,
application and data provisioning, continuity and availability.

Fundamentals of Network Administration (CompTIA: Network+) £420
Aims to provide knowledge, skills and understanding in physical network infrastructure. The
module topics include networking media, devices and topologies, network protocols, security,
network operating systems and implementation, troubleshooting and support.
Open Source Operating System (CompTIA: Linux+ and LPI: 101) £420
Introduces the concepts of open source systems and provides you with the practical skills
required to set up and administer open source client operating systems. Topics include
installation, hardware configuration, command line, the Linux file system, the X environment,
text processing and manipulation.
Open Source Server Administration (CompTIA: Linux+ and LPI: 102) £630
Aims to provide knowledge skills and understanding in open source server administration. The
module topics include Linux community, Linux boot process and run levels, documentation,
managing users and groups, administration, kernel configuration, shells and scripting, printing
services, network and security.

Networking for Home and Small Business (CCNA: 1) £630
Provides a hands-on approach to networking and identifies the tools and hardware commonly
found in the home and small business environment. You will develop the fundamental skills
required to plan, install and troubleshoot a secure home or small business network with
Internet connectivity.
This course explores the principles of implementing and troubleshooting Wide Area Networks.
It provides a basic overview of routing, remote access, addressing and security, as well as
servers that provide e-mail services, web space, and authenticated access.
Aims to develop the skills required to configure, install and troubleshoot an enterprise
network. It explores routing protocols, equipment applications and protocols installed in
enterprise networks, with a focus on switched networks, IP Telephony requirements and
security.

() or a CPS in Developing Systems Using Open Source ().
Introduces the basic tools and principles of object-oriented computer programming using
Microsoft Visual Basic.NET.
This course aims to provide you with a practical knowledge of the basic facilities available in
ASP.NET (Active Server Pages.NET) for creating web applications.
This course aims to provide you with the practical knowledge required to read, write, transmit,
edit, transform and search XML documents from an ASP.NET web application.
Introduces systems development using Object Oriented techniques and the concepts of the
Unified Modelling Language (UML) to specify, visualise and document artefacts of software
systems. The course will develop your understanding of UML modelling syntax and
semantics, as well as enabling you to analyse and express system problems as a set of UML
models.

Introduction to Web Services £210
Aims to provide you with a theoretical knowledge of the framework of web services, as well as
a practical knowledge in the creation and utilisation of web services using ASP.NET.
Aims to familiarise users of high level programming languages, such as ‘C’, with the tools
required for developing C++ applications. You will explore the fundamentals of object-oriented
programming, as well as the construct and syntax of C++.
Introduces cyber security threats including hacking, viruses, malware, trojans and phishing.
You will learn how to analyse risks to a computer system and deploy counter-measures to
mitigate security threats.
Introduces PHP programming and the use of MYSQL as a data repository for dynamic web
pages. The course aims to equip you with the basic knowledge required to create PHP scripts
to communicate with a database for the generation of web applications.
Designed to develop your ability to install, use, configure, connect and administer open
source operating systems and networking applications. The course provides a conceptual
framework of open source development methodologies, licenses, communities, processes
and norms, as well as a rationale for applications for which open source approaches are likely
to be appropriate.

Game Technologies
Designed to complement the software oriented games design course options, this course
introduces the games programmer to games console hardware design using embedded
technology. You will learn about the architecture of embedded systems technology as well as
the design and development of a stand-alone games console using a high level processor.
Designed to provide you with the skills required to design and develop a simple 2D game.
You will utilise an object oriented language to manage and manipulate game components, in
order to produce game interactivity and playability.
To give the students an understanding how 3D computer game engines are designed,
developed and produced. The module will provide the student with the opportunity to
investigate and explore the processes involved in developing and implementing a simple 3D
game.
Introduces suitable programming environments that can be used to develop a range of games
for PCs and games consoles. You will learn the basic syntax and structure of a computer
games program using an object oriented programming language such as C#, Java or C++.

This course will introduce you to the concepts of eCommerce and the processes involved in
creating eCommerce solutions to support business. On the successful completion of the
course, you will be able to evaluate eCommerce solutions and plan the implementation of an
appropriate solution to meet business requirements.

Managing Projects £420
Provides an introduction to developing and managing enterprise scale project plans with
Microsoft Project. You will learn to utilise Microsoft Project to create and define projects,
predict project behaviour, analyse resource utilisation and track project progress.
Designed to provide you with the fundamental knowledge and understanding required to
undertake an effective role within a project management team using a PRINCE2 environment.
On the successful completion of the course, you will recognise that PRINCE2 mandates that
a project be based on a well-formed outcome, with a business case which balances the
expected benefits of the project against the risks and costs.
Introduces relational database design techniques, with a focus on data modelling to meet a
given set of user requirements. The course is designed to equip you with the fundamental
skills required to ensure the quality and integrity of a database design, before it is
implemented using a database development tool.

Database Implementation Using Microsoft Access £420
Using Microsoft Access as the chosen Database Management System (DBMS), you will use
DBMS tools, including Structured Query Language (SQL), to implement a database design
that accurately represents the semantics of a given data model.
