for rotors, blades, skins, landing gear, windows, and more.
For the many components of an engine and airframe –
from engine rotor to fuselage skin – you can select a
3M abrasive product most appropriate for your mainte-
nance requirements. Products include performance-
proven 3M coated abrasives, 3M ™ Scotch-Brite ™
non-woven abrasives and 3M micro abrasives and
superabrasives.
From dimensioning to polishing –
3M has the broadest selection available of abrasive
types and grades. You can vary abrasive aggressive-
ness to meet quality and productivity requirements
for applications ranging from weld leveling to polishing
skins.
With Scotch-Brite non-woven products, for example,
controlled abrasive action helps prevent gouging or
undercutting for less chance of affecting critical
tolerances.
In the full 3M line you’ll find products for consistent
and cost-effective dimensioning, defect removal,
deburring, blending, finishing, corrosion removal,
cleaning, polishing, and surface preparation.
Window and canopy repair
You can also readily repair such window damage
as deep scratches and light hazing with the 3M™
Finesse-it ™ Plastic Repair Kit II. Kit includes every-
thing to finish the job by hand or with power tools.
Peening
The 3M TC 330 roto-peen flap assembly consists of
shot bonded to a flexible flap. For stress relief appli-
cations, the flap is rotated at high speed so the shot
strikes the component with each revolution. This is
cleaner and more precise than loose shot "blasting".

3M AIRCRAFT INTERIOR SOLUTION
RELATED GOVERNMENT REGULATORY, INDUSTRY SPECIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE
FAR Compliance 3M™ Polyurethane Protective Tape 8693DL and 8694 pass the vertical flame performance requirements of
FAR 25.853 as free standing unattached tapes and when applied to a variety of floorboards. Conformance
testing to FAR 25.853 can be provided from an independent laboratory for production material.
OEM Approval 3M™ Polyurethane Protective Tapes 8693DL, 8694, and 8663 are used extensively as barrier tapes for floors
in new aircraft production. Polyurethane Protective Tapes 8693DL and 8694 are also qualified to Boeing
Material Specification BMS 8-346 Rev. A. Polyurethane Protective Tape 8693DL meets Type II Class 2
requirements, and Polyurethane Protective Tape 8694 meets Type II Class 1 requirements.
MRO Approval Application of 3M™ Polyurethane Protective Tape 8663DL is a recommended design change for 737 and 757
aircraft operators to minimize corrosion damage to floor support structures. Technical Service Letters
737-SL-53-034 and 757-SL-53-018 detail the installation recommendations. 3M™ Polyurethane Protective
Tapes 8693DL, 8694, 8672 and 8663DL are used by global airlines to minimize corrosion damage to aircraft
