Resolution 20-29
A Resolution Supporting an Inclusive and Welcoming Community

Whereas, the City of Pine Island is stronger when all community residents are united, engaged
and valued as neighbors and contributors to the public good; and

Whereas, fostering a relationship of trust, respect and open communication between City
officials and residents is essential to delivering effective public services and maintaining a high
quality of life; and

Whereas, the City Council wishes to recognize and uphold the principles and ideals outlined in
the US Constitution and its amendments including equality under the law, freedom including the
freedom to express differing views, and the dignity of all people regardless of background; and

Now, therefore, be it resolved, that the Pine Island City Council, as representatives of the City of
Pine Island, hereby declares and resolves that the city of Pine Island strives to be a welcoming
city to all residents without regard to age, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status,
ethnicity, religion, or country of origin, and we renew our commitment that Pine Island will
continue to be a community in which all people have the right to pursue life, liberty and
happiness free of discrimination, hatred and violence.
