MATERIALS NEEDED

1. iPad’s
2. Email account

SUGGESTED GROUP SIZE:

The classroom size is 20 students. Each group will hold 2 people.

PROCEDURES
The class will begin by the teacher assigning iPads to every student. Once all of the iPads
have been distributed the teacher will begin to explain the lesson. Each student will use the
application paint on the iPads. Each student will need to draw a monster. The teacher will show a
times on the white board, from the projector, for 10 minutes. The monster does not have to be
pretty but must be creative. The students are not to show anyone their monster that they have
drawn. Once the timer goes off the students must stop drawing. The students will now save the
image to the iPad. Each iPad will come predownloaded with Microsoft Word. Each student will
create a document. The document will include a description of their monster. The description is
to be detailed enough where another student can draw the same monster. The teacher will set a
timer for 5 minutes for the students to come up with a description. The teacher will have a
student name generator on the computer. While the students are writing their descriptions, the
teacher will input the names into the generator. Once the timer goes off, each student will need to
save their document to the iPad. Each student will randomly get a partner and will have to email
their description to them. Some students may already have emails, but for this assignment each
student is going to create a brand-new email. Each email will be yahoo.com. The teacher will be
on the computer showing the students how to complete the email set up. The teacher’s computer
screen will be displayed on the whiteboard. The students will follow along on their iPads. Once
all of the emails are created, the teacher will show the students how to attach a document. Each
student will be sending their description to someone new. The students will also be sending their
original monster design to the teacher. Once the students have sent all of their emails, the teacher
will make sure they have all been received. The students will have 10 minutes to recreate their
partners monster. Once the students are done drawing their partners monster, they will email the
recreated monster to the teacher. A survey has already been created by the teacher that asks the
students to vote for the original and the recreated monster. The teacher will email all of the
students the survey. Once all of the students have clicked on the link to the survey, the teacher
will copy and paste the original and the new monster next to each other in a document. The
teacher will call both students in front of the class to show off their monsters. The student who
originally drew the monster will read their description to the class. The students will use that

survey to vote for which monster more closely matches the description that has been provided.
The students will be able to see in real time whether the original monsters or the re-created
monsters were more favored.

ASSESSMENT
The assessment of this project will be off of creativity and effort. Each student should
receive 100% for this project. The goal of this project is to show students how to be creative, use
email, and use a word document. If the students have actually tried to follow the description they
will get 100% for this assignment.
