MECHANICS FOR THE VOCAL SOLO COMPETITION

Below are the mechanics for the vocal solo competition and the criteria with which the
contestants would be adjudged. Read them carefully for strict compliance and guidance.

1. The contest is open to all bonafide CEBA Department Students enrolled in the first
semester of the current school year.
2. Contestants are required to be at the venue at least 30 minutes before the contest
starts for technical preparations and to cast/draw lots.
3. Musical accompaniment (minus one) should be saved in a USB which in turn should
be given to the sound technician/operator prior to the start of the program. The use
of any musical instrument for accompaniment is NOT allowed and would be subject
to DISQUALIFICATION.
4. Song choice is strictly OPM (Original Pilipino Music) which may be in English or
Filipino as long as it is written and composed by a Filipino composer and sang by a
Filipino artist.
5. Contestants are expected to wear attire suitable for the event.
6. Criteria for judging are as follows:
 Voice quality/vocal technique (quality of tone of the singer

 Musicianship (interpretation, dynamics, diction, phrasing) . . . . . . 35%
 Rhythm and Timing (voice in relation to the music) . . . . . . . . . . . . 20%

7. Three judges will score the contestants. Ranking system in tallying the scores will be
used. Judges’ decision is FINAL.
8. Any violation of the aforementioned rules is subject for immediate disqualification.

Below are the mechanics for the vocal duet competition and the criteria with which the
contestants would be adjudged. Read them carefully for strict compliance and guidance.

2. The participating pair is required to be at the venue at least 30 minutes before the
contest starts for technical preparations and to cast/draw lots.
3. Musical accompaniment (minus one) should be saved in a USB which in turn should

MECHANICS FOR THE MODERN DANCE COMPETITION

Below are the mechanics for the modern dance competition and the criteria with which the
contestants would be adjudged. Read them carefully for strict compliance and guidance.

1. The contest is open to all bonafide CEBA Department Students enrolled in the first
semester of the current school year. Each group shall be composed of a minimum of
10 to a maximum of 15 dancers, male or female or any combination thereof.
2. The dance group is required to be at the venue at least 30 minutes before the
contest starts for technical preparations and to cast/draw lots.
3. The group is given freedom to choose any modern dance genre or the fusion of two
or more genres. Choreography should not be vulgar and must not contain violent,
subliminal or sexually suggestive act.
4. Participation in the event is entirely at the dancer’s own risk. Performance of
dangerous choreography will not be reflected favorably in the scoring.
5. Musical accompaniment to be used by the group should be saved in a USB which in
turn should be given to the sound technician/operator prior to the start of the
program. The use of any musical instrument for accompaniment is NOT allowed and
would be subject to DISQUALIFICATION.
6. Contestants are expected to wear attire suitable for the event but is NOT required to
wear costumes.
7. Use of props are allowed as long as it will not cause any delay in the program or
harm the performance of the other groups.
8. As soon as the group’s number is called, they are given a minimum of 5 and a
maximum of 7 minutes to perform on stage which include entrance and exit. Beyond
the said limit, a total of 3 points would be deducted from the group’s overall/total
score
9. Criteria for judging are as follows:
 Choreography & Originality (dance arrangement and concept,
inclusion of original routine/movement, creativity and artistry) . . 50%
 Performance & Execution (spacing formations, showmanship,
coordination and synchronicity, projection) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 40%
 Overall entertainment value and appeal . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 10%
