Pattern Notes:
Kfb: knit into front and back of stitch (increasing one stitch).
Garter stitch in the round:
Row 1: Knit all stitches
Row 2: Purl all stitches
FYI: When I say, “ridge” I’m referring to garter stitch. One “ridge” equals two rows.
Pattern:
For all sizes: Working with two strands of yarn, cast on 21 stitches.
Repeat rows 8 and 9 until you have 12 (12, 14) ridges from cast on edge, leaving last stitch of Row 9 un-knit (Don’t
worry, it will be knit together with the first stitch in just a minute). 24 (24, 28) rows.
Join to work in the round by knitting the first and last stitches together (the first stitch of Needle 1 and the last stitch
of Needle 3). Place that stitch onto Needle 3. So, now you have 8 sts on #1, 11 sts on #2, and 9 sts on #3 – 28 sts
total.
(** Option: if you would like to mark the beginning of a round, place a stitch marker between the first and second
stitches of Needle 1. Otherwise, just make sure you’re aware of what needle you’re knitting with in order to keep
track of the number of rows/”ridges” you’ve completed.)
Work garter stitch in the round - keeping the first and last stitch on Needle 2 in stockinette - beginning with a purl
row. Work until you have 20 (22, 24) ridges from cast on edge.
Cut yarn leaving an 8-inch tail. Thread yarn through tapestry needle, and bring needle through all stitches. Pull
tightly to close toe, bring yarn to inside, knot and weave in ends. Using a single strand of yarn, sew the back heel
seam of slipper. Weave in ends.
Make a pom-pom, and sew it to the top of the slipper, about 1/2-3/4” from where you began to work in the round.
Weave in ends.
Option:
Instead of a pom-pom you could knit an I-cord (2 or 3 stitches should do just fine), tie it in a bow, and sew that to
the top of the slipper.
