To Our Lynchburg Health & Rehabilitation Center Family:

We write today to provide another update to you since our letter yesterday, July 15. Last
evening and today, we have been notified that four additional patients have tested positive
for COVID-19. One patient is receiving care in the hospital, and nine are being treated in
our center following isolation protocols. Cumulatively since May 1, we have had 17 positive
cases in our center: ten patients and seven employees. All seven employees are self-
quarantining at home and will only return to work when cleared by the Lynchburg Health
Department.

We have and will continue to implement the protocols of the Lynchburg Health Department,
including testing for residents and staff. Also, as you know, we continue to strictly adhere
to the guidance provided by the CDC, CMS, and the Virginia Department of Health. The
following protocols were implemented in early March and will continue:
Increased education on COVID-19 symptoms, infection controls, social distancing
and proper hand washing
Travel history screening for all employees
Employee temperature and symptom scanning prior to each shift
Visitation restriction
Coordination of all deliveries to one entrance, facilitated by staff members
Discontinuation of communal dining, congregate therapy and group activities
At a minimum of every eight hours we are monitoring resident temperatures and
symptoms including respiratory status
Consolidation of the physical location of patients who tested positive to maintain the
greatest degree of separation possible from the rest of our facility

Be assured, the health and safety of our residents is our top priority. We are closely
monitoring our patients for any change in condition, and we will notify you promptly if we
have any concerns. As always, if you have questions or concerns about your loved one’s
