What is special about Paradise Valley Private School?

 It is going to be a world class IB school, which is inclusive in nature. This is going to be the
first school in Oman to have full inclusion.
 It is an international school but firmly rooted in Omani culture. It is open to all children –
Omani and Expatriate.
 The language of instruction is English but Arabic will be taught to all. The Arabic speakers
will be taught Islamic and Social Studies in Arabic according to the Ministry of Education
guidelines.
What is IB?

 International Baccalaureate or IB is a world class education programme that is rigorous,


well-structured and recognized all over the world. It has Primary years (PYP), Middle years
(MYP) and Diploma programme (DP) covering the entire school years, plus a Career
programme (CP)
 We are starting with PYP and hope to grow in future into a full fledged IB school with all four
programmes.

Is PVPS an IB school?

 It is an Applicant for IB Candidacy. It takes time to get the IB accreditation (to be recognized
as an IB school). It may take two to three years, but we are going to get it.

What does being an Inclusive School mean?

 It is the school’s philosophy that ALL children will learn together. It means that children with
special needs will also learn along with other regular children in the class.
 It is a school that respects all diversity.

If there are special needs students in the class will the other children get ignored or get less attention?

 Inclusion actually benefits all children, and the regular children become more sensitive and
compassionate when they understand the problems some of their friends face.
 Teachers will plan the lessons in such a way that all the children are fully engaged.
 There are specialist teachers to help the homeroom teacher, like the special educator,
speech and language therapist, Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist.
 The teacher student ratio in PVPS is 1:8 which makes the individual attention to all children
possible.
What would be the admission process for special children?

 The school would like to meet the parents and the children and interact with them and see the
documents before deciding on the admission?

What’s the alternative to Islamic studies for expats students?

 They do the IB programme .

What are the Infra facilities for children with special needs?

 We will have the lift installed as soon as the permission is granted. We will have two ramps
outside.

Will it impact the regular children?

 No, It only makes the students more sensitive and more compassionate
 Special needs is not contagious

What is the support provided for children with special needs?

 A team of specialists will work with the student. Besides the Homeroom teachers there are
specialist teachers like the special educator, speech and language therapist, Physical Therapist
and Occupational Therapist.
 There will be observations and assessments initially and then an IEP or Individualised Education
Programme will be prepared in consultation with the parents.
 Each student will develop according to her potential in a most supportive environment.

What are the school timings?

 Students should arrive before 8 am and leave at 3:30pm


 KG timings will be from 8:30 till 3 pm

What about the Food in the school?

 Nutritious food is served by a good caterer


 Morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack
 No food to be sent from home.
 School must be informed about food allergies or restrictions, if any, at the time of admission.

Will there be Homework?

 There will be no homework for the children except to read story books
What is the reporting system to the parents?

 There will be formal reporting twice a year at the end of the term but there will be informal
communication going on back and forth all the time.

What Fees do I pay?

 The fee structure is in the brochure in detail.


 For KG1 & KG2 RO 2,8000 and Grades 1,2 & 3 RO 3,200 for the year.
 There are other costs like one time joining fee etc. Details can be had from the reception

What Curriculum will PVPS follow?

 We will follow IB curriculum for the Primary Years Programme (PYP)

What about the textbooks?

 There are no text books

And Uniform?

 Yes, there are uniforms

Where can we buy them?

 In the school uniform shop

Will the school provide Transport?

 Bus service is optional and available at a cost. You can get more information from the reception.
