Furnishings
General furnishings in the flight compartment include wall
panels, ceiling panels and floor coverings.
The flight compartment furnishing panels are made from
moulded polycarbonate material. The panels are secured
to the structure with velcro tape or by a combination
of velcro tape, screws, bolts and panel mounted
components.
The emergency light panel is secured to the structure by
installation of the light and by velcro tape. The map tables
are bolted to the structure through the side panels and
assist in securing the panels to the aircraft structure.
The flight compartment is fully carpeted and all furnishing
panels are colored when moulded.
Description
The observer’s seat consists of a welded steel frame
and web, with a nylon covered padded seat cushion, a
padded back cushion located on the flight compartment
door, and a restraint system.
When not in use, the seat hinges upward to the left side
of the flight compartment entrance and is secured in the
up position by Velcro tape. The seat is secured in the
down position by two latch assemblies located on the
inboard wall of the lavatory compartment.
The restraint system consists of a lap belt, a single
shoulder harness and running loop, and an inertia reel
located above the avionics rack.
The seat is designed to allow the flight compartment door
to be opened, regardless of seat position.
Description
Items installed on the flight compartment door include:
−− Document container
−− Observer seat backrest
−− Card holders
−− Mirror
−− Spy hole.
The flight compartment door is made from a composite
panel with aluminium edge trims for protection. The
door has a paint finish on the flight compartment side
and a decorative covering applied on the passenger
compartment side.
The door is held in position with three hinges attached
to the aircraft structure. The hinges are spring−loaded to
permit easy release of the flight compartment door from
the aircraft structure.
The door latch holds the door in the closed position. The
latch strike−plate is installed on the forward lavatory.

The stowage unit accommodates four trays for additional
buffet stowage and is secured into place by individual
butterfly latches.
The unit consists of a base assembly, compartment unit
and a flap assembly.
The base assembly is secured to the floor by four bolts
and is attached to the compartment unit by two lock
screws. A shell unit is secured to the floor by double
sided tape forward of the base assembly.
The flap assembly folds up and locks the hanger bar, and
two brackets installed under the shelf unit. A self−locking
pin locks the flap assembly into place.
