Situation found: Heavy fire on second floor

Cause: Under investigation by WFD investigators and WPD investigators

Remarks: WFD Engine 2(State St.) arrived to find heavy fire conditions on the second
floor of a 3 unit apartment house. Tenants were self evacuating upon FD arrival. WFD
units encountered high heat conditions while advancing a hoseline up the stairwell to
the second floor and made an aggressive attack quickly extinguishing the fire,
containing it to the floor of origin. Extensive fire damage to the second floor of 371
Flower Ave. E, smoke and water damage to the first floor of 371, and minor damage to
the other 2 units. Crews upon arrival performed searches of the entire building for
any trapped occupants and none were located.
WFD crews were assisted at the scene by WPD, Guilfoyle Ambulance, Watertown
Codes Dept and National Grid
No injuries were reported

The building was condemned for occupancy by the Watertown Codes Dept.
The fire is under investigation at the time of this report and further information will be
released when the investigation is completed.
