Today the market has a substantial supply of courses in
data science/analytics of varying duration. Given that it is a somewhat
esoteric and evolving area, students have difficulty in choosing one

partnership with Purdue started this unique dual degree program MBA

Analytics has a huge and varied use of software and
applications, the field is also rapidly growing, the learnings and the
teaching delivery needs conceptual grasp, application to projects and
the ability to reach for new and available knowledge, the curriculum is
therefore chosen to teach decision making with analytics, filling in to
reach what will not be covered at the Purdue leg of training and give the
basics for preparation of an easy grasp of the teaching imparted at
Perdue University, courses have been exhaustive, even with a bridge
term added to cover all that can be covered, students have done well
going to win so many analytics competitions this year, thrilled with the
results thus far.

I had the privilege of teaching 2 core courses and 1
optional subject in this program MBA - Data Analytics. At the onset, I
must congratulate the program chair and the Dean SBM for creating
such a wonderful program. Whatever limitations I experienced in a full-
time core MBA program in terms of analytics was adequately covered
here. I need not stress the importance of data analytics in today's
difficult times, but it is equally important to interpret, understand, and
apply the findings of analytics. In our course around 40% time was
spent in the data analytics part and 60% time in the application,
sensitivity analysis, risk assessment, and mitigation of the data analytics
outcome. Wishing everyone a super success in their careers.

I have engaged the 27 students of the first batch of MBA
DSA program for the subject of Optimization Models. I observed there
was a high level of analytical skills & the focus was more on the
application of Mathematical Models. I got a sense of feeling that the
course was capturing the essence of management with the common
minimum management subjects to maintain the MBA focus & alongside
providing the necessary analytics inputs in the first year itself in areas of
multi-variate analysis, predictive analysis, etc. which would typically be
offered in the second year as electives in the regular MBA. The small
batch size was conducive to better project & group assignments & a
more effective learning process. This was evident in their performance
for both internals & final examination. I am confident they will excel in
any management based analytical summer projects.
