Purpose of this document
The purpose of this document is to call out significant changes to the course from its most recent
version. Microsoft Certified Trainers (MCTs) and instructors should use this document before delivering
the class, or they should use it during the preparation phase to understand what has changed from the
previous version of this course.

This is not an error log or a supplement to the course materials. This document is meant to provide
additional context for the changes between the two versions of the course.

What you can expect in this document


The Change Log captures changes from the previous course version in the following four main areas:

1. Design (outline)
2. Lecture and lab content (Student Handbook, PPT, Lab Answer Key)
3. Labs (virtual machines)
4. Change description for learning product specification changes

The revision descriptions are provided at a high level and not at a detailed level to ensure that they give
you an overall understanding of the topics that have changed and the reasoning behind the changes.

Change Description for Design (Outline)

The overall design of this course has not changed significantly in this revision. The biggest change to the
course is that the virtual machines running Windows Server 2016 have been updated from the Technical
Preview 5 (TP5) release to the General Availability (GA) release. As well, the virtual machines running
Windows 10 have been updated to Anniversary Update. All demonstrations and labs have been updated
to use the new virtual machines. As well, the course content has been updated to address any changes
between the TP5 and GA releases.

• Module 1: Planning and implementing an IPv4 network:


o There are no significant structural changes to this module.
• Module 2: Implementing DHCP:
o There are no significant structural changes to this module.
• Module 3: Implementing IPv6:
o There are no significant structural changes to this module.
• Module 4: Implementing DNS:
o There are no significant structural changes to this module.
• Module 5: Implementing and managing IPAM:
o There are no significant structural changes to this module.
• Module 6: Remote access in Windows Server 2016:
o There are no significant structural changes to this module.
• Module 7: Implementing DirectAccess:
o There are no significant structural changes to this module.
• Module 8: Implementing VPNs:
o There are no significant structural changes to this module.
• Module 9: Implementing networking for branch offices:
o There are no significant structural changes to this module.
• Module 10: Implementing advanced networking features:
o There are no significant structural changes to this module.
• Module 11: Implementing software-defined networking:
o There are no significant structural changes to this module.
Although the modules and topics have not changed in the B release, several topics were updated to
address changes between the TP5 and GA releases.

Change Description for Virtual Environment

The B version of this course includes the following changes to the virtual machine configuration:

• All virtual machines running Windows Server 2016 are now running the GA build rather than the
TP5 build.
• All virtual machines running Windows 10 are now running the Anniversary Update build rather
than the GA build.
