Assistive/Adaptive Technology: C-Pen Reading Pen
❖Helpful for students who are learning English as a
second language or students with reading disabilities
such as dyslexia.
❖It can read out loud words in a printed text, allowing for
students to see how a word is spelled or how it is
pronounced.
❖It also has a feature that can define words
❖ It is small, light weight, and discrete. Great for
students privacy.
❖It can also save up scan words for future reference.
❖Can also be used as an USB to store additional
information.
❖Also contains a voice recording feature
Assistive/Adaptive Technology: C-Pen Reading Pen continued
• Cost about $250 (Amazon), it can be delivered within two days with
Amazon Prime
• Good for students of different ages
• Simple and easy to use, just run the pen across printed text and it will
automatically read it.
• Comes with head jack for a more private reading experience.
• Compatible with both PC and Mac to upload scanned information.
Emerging Technology:
Virtual Reality
• Uses computer technology to create simulated
environments
• Different from watching a screen, virtual reality
uses a type of head gear that makes people feel
as they are in an specific location without actually
been in that location
• Not only does it simulate the visual senses, it also
simulates hearing, touch, and even smell.
• Some of the leading vendors of Virtual Reality are
Sony’s PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive.
• Provides students with the
opportunity to experience
dangerous scenarios or explore
locations that are too difficult to
travel.
• Not necessary to leave the
classroom
• With using virtual reality,
students will most likely be able
to remember what they did.
• Can be beneficial to simulate
virtual field trip, Special
Education, Content Creation, and
Distant Learning
• Also demonstrate processes,
display objects, and historical
Virtual Reality in Education events.
Innovative Uses of Social Media
in Education
• Allows to create more engagement between students
and teachers.
• Some teachers create instructional videos to provide
additional help
• Useful for sharing information and organizing school
events
• Great method to create communication with student’s
and parents
• Already a high percentage of students are using,why
not use it for educational purposes

educational purposes, it
should be separate from
personal accounts
❖Can be used to post
examples of projects
❖Can be used to set reminders
of upcoming assignments,
test, and/or projects
❖Additional homework helps
❖Can help with creating new
ideas/ find inspiration for
new projects
