• The written Exam will start at 10:00 hrs onwards. Further instructions regarding the
exam shall be shared before exam.

• The exam will be of two hours duration.

• The exam will test candidates’ on research aptitude and knowledge in the relevant discipline.

• The candidates, who are eligible to appear directly in the Interviews on same day.

• Νο Separate intimation will be sent for written Exams or interviews.

Note:- Candidates who have qualified in UGC NET/CSIR (JRF) Examination/SLET/GATE/Teacher Fellowship holder
or have passed M.Phil. Programmes are exempted from Written Examinations. Also candidates having industry
experience of more than 10 years in the relevant field are exempted from the written test.

1. OBJECTIVE:-
The objective of the Ph.D programme at Galgotias University is t o enable students to engage in
advanced study, original and independent research in their areas of specialization & the application of
their scientific knowledge to the solution of technical & scientific problems.

Students at Galgotias University are expected to develop the capacity for objective enquiry as well
as the awareness and sensitivity to the needs and aspirations of the society. The programs have
been designed to impart knowledge, strengthen concepts and intellectual skills through course
work, seminars and project/ dissertation work.

The PhD programs at Galgotias University intend to prepare students to take their professions
with a perspective and breadth of knowledge related to the principal divisions of their respective
fields of specialization through courses and research experience. This brochure provides general
information sought by those seeking admission at Galgotias University in PhD programs. For rules
pertaining to any particular issue, decision of the competent authority would be applicable.

2. ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY

All candidates seeking admission to the PhD program shall have to possess requisite
marks/grades in qualifying examination as indicated below:

Masters degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Sciences/ Business Administration/ Pharmacy/

Humanities/Social Sciences/Languages/Law/other with a minimum 55% marks (CGPA 6.0 on a
10 point scale) or equivalent.

3. ADMISSION CRITERIA

Admission shall be based on:

a) Satisfying the requirements of minimum qualifications as laid down in clause 2.
b) Performance in Interview for those who have qualified in UGC NET/CSIR (JRF)
Examination/SLET/GATE/Teacher Fellowship holder or M.Phil.
c) Candidates having 10 years of industry experience shall be exempted from the written test.
d) Performance in
i) PhD Written Exam to be conducted by Galgotias University for all those who are not
qualified in any of the examinations mentioned in 3(b),3(c) and

ii) Subsequent Interview by the panel including Departmental Research Committee (DRC)
members and other professors/experts appointed by the Dean of the concerned school.
e) Candidates are required to propose and discuss their research interests and research
hypothesis at the time of Interview.
f) The University reserves the right to limit the number of scholars to be admitted to the
University at any time. This decision would be guided by the available resources and other
facilities.
g) The names of the selected candidates will be displayed on the website.
h) The selected students shall be allowed provisional registration after he/she has paid the fees
prescribed by the University.

4. APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applicant may apply online on website; www.galgotiasuniversity.edu.in of the Galgotias

University followed by payment of Rs. 1100/-.
Or Application forms may also be obtained from the Admissions Office, Galgotias University,
against a demand draft/cash deposit on any working day.

5. CATEGORY OF STUDENTS

The students can be registered as Full Time or on Part Time basis

I. A Full Time scholar has to attend the university regularly and will be subject to the
prescribed attendance rules of the University.

II. Professionally employed personnel such as working engineers, scientists and teachers
may be allowed to pursue Ph.D. on part-time basis. Such candidates are required to
submit a “No Objection Certificate” from their parent
organization/department/employer stating that he/she is permitted to pursue studies
on a part-time basis and that his/her duties permit him/her to devote sufficient time
for research.
 Part-time studies leading to Ph.D. may also be permitted to persons working in
universities/ research centers with which a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has
been signed for research purposes. Part Time students will have to attend the classes
for assigned course-work as per the rules of University.

6. MINIMUM & MAXIMUM PERIOD OF REGISTRATION

The minimum period of registration for a full time research student for submitting
his/her dissertation is two years from the date of permanent registration. The minimum
period is three years for candidates pursuing the degree as a part time scholar.
A full time Ph.D. student/candidate may be permitted to submit his/her dissertation
within a maximum period of 5 years from the date of permanent registration and for a
part time scholar, this maximum period is 6 years.

7. FEE:

Application Fee : Rs.1100

Tuition Fee : Rs. 60000.00 per annum
Examination Fee : Rs. 10000.00 per annum

8. REFUND OF FEE

No Fee shall be refunded, after commencement of the session.

9. All students will be subject to the provisions of Galgotias University, Uttar Pradesh Act. 14
of 2011, Statutes, ordinances & Regulations (as amended from time to time).
