Managed Thin Client Benefits – VV5200

Lower total cost of ownership than PCs over

the lifetime of the system:
• Integrates with ThinManager® software for efficient
centralized management
• Less likely to fail because they don’t have hard drives or
fans and they contain industrial grade components
suitable for harsh environments
• Easier to replace when they do fail, significantly reducing
More secure:
downtime
• No local storage – nothing is stored on device
• Smaller and require less power to operate and cool
• Can eliminate access to the Windows Desktop
• Fewer client operating systems to manage
• USB ports are disabled by default for everything
except and keyboards/mice

Other Licensing Considerations
• Remote Desktop Client Access Licenses (RDSCALs)
• There are 2 types available:
• Per User – each unique user session requires an RDSCAL
• Per Device – each device receiving a session requires an RDSCAL
• Per Device is generally more suitable for ThinManager deployments
• FactoryTalk Licensing
• Currently, every Remote Desktop Server session delivering a FactoryTalk
client application requires a separate FactoryTalk client license. &
• The exception is the FactoryTalk View SE Client. With FactoryTalk
View SE v11 and ThinManager v11, a single FactoryTalk View SE
Client license is required per ThinManager-managed terminal
regardless of the number of FactoryTalk View SE Client sessions v11
delivered.
• Any 3rd party application will require its own licensing scheme.
