Q1 Define the term affiliate?

In the broadcasting industry, a network affiliate or affiliated station is a


local broadcaster, owned by a company other than the owner of the
network, which carries some or all of the lineup of television programs or
radio programs of a television or radio network.

Q2 Define the concept of interconnects?

Cable technology that makes possible for advertisers to deliver message


to narrowly restricted geographic regions.

Q3 Define the term syndication?

Syndicated means a television program being shown on a different


television network than the one that first showed the program.
the act of selling newspaper or magazine articles, photographs, television 
shows, etc. to other organizations so that they can
be published or shown in several places.

Q4 Define sponsorship?

Sponsorship is a more involved advertising relationship between the


advertiser and medium compared to typical advertising in which the

Participation is where the audience can play an active role in the process

Spot announcements is a brief radio or television announcement, usually


an advertisement, made by an individual station during or after a network
program.

Q7 Define spot radio advertising?

It is buying commercials, frequently called spots in the radio industry, to


promote their products or services. Commercial messages that are
directly placed with local radio stations.

Q8 Define the term “Frequency”?

In online advertising, frequency refers to how often an ad appears to a


single user in a certain time frame. It is most often measured and
expressed as a per hours figure, even when talking about a day.

Q9 Define the term “Signals”?

A signal is an electrical or electromagnetic current that is used for carrying


data from one device or network to another. In signal processing, it
conveys information about a phenomenon.

Q 10 Give two lines of learning that you have learned from this chapter?

Broadcast media includes advertisements, documentaries, daily news,


interviews, radio, podcasts, blogs, advertising, websites, online streaming
and digital journalism. It provides valuable information that can inform and
educate, to build a healthy national consciousness; to inspire a positive
sense of shared national purpose. There are different types of broadcast
media with their own value.
