Lesson Plan in Music

I. Intended Learning Outcome

At the end of the session , the Grade10 students shall have composed a song
under the 4 eras of the Philippine music with at least 60% accuracy.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Eras of the Philippine Music

III. Teaching Learning Activities

A. Awareness
 Routinary activities
 Prayer/Greetings/Checking of attendance
 Recap about the previous discussion
 The teacher will ask the following questions?
1. Who among you here have tried playing musical instruments?
2. Who can give me examples of wind instruments? How about string
instruments?
B. Activity
The teacher will divide the class into 4 groups . Each group is going to have a role
play about how to use the musical instruments. They are given only 8 minutes to
collaborate with their group and 5 minute to perform it in front.
Group 1- Flute
Group 2- Guitar
Group 3- Harp
Group 4- Violin

C. Analysis
 Teacher’s input from the students output
 Powerpoint presentation

D. Abstraction
1. What do you think is the importance of the 4 eras in the Philippine music?
2. Does the Filipinos know how to sing even without these 4 eras?
3. Can you give me some examples of Filipino songs in Ethnic tradition?

E. Application
With the same group ,each group will have to choose 1 song under the 4 eras of
Philippine music and they are going to perform it in front. They are given 10 minutes to
choose a song and 5 minutes to perform.
Group1- Ethnic Tradition
Group2- Spanish Colonial Tradition
Group3- American Colonial Tradition
Group4- Contemporary Tradition

IV. Assessment
Each Group is task to compose their own song under the Ethnic Tradition.
They are graded according to the following criteria:
