Darrin Ellsmore, from the multi-award winning TV Show North
American Safari, are to appear at a benefit for a wounded soldier in
Okeechobee Florida from February 14th to 18th.
Other TV Shows and personalities are also slated to appear such as Away
outdoors and After the Snap.
The wounded soldier (SGM Patrick T. Corcoran) was severely injured in
Afghanistan when enemy forces using an improvised explosive device
attacked the vehicle he was riding in. The explosion left SGM Corcoran
critically injured requiring immediate medical evacuation. After
recovering from the most life threatening injuries, he remains paralyzed
from the waist down from severe spinal cord trauma with back, leg, and
pelvic injuries.
“We are always looking for opportunities to give back when
we can” said Darrin Ellsmore, owner of RGS labs. “Being able
to give back to such a great cause and be able to give someone
the ability to get back outdoors and hunt again that was
injured fighting for my freedom, I don’t think there is a
greater honor” says Darrin Ellsmore.
Many companies have stepped up to help make this event happen.
“Trans Canada has stepped up big time in support of the
purchase of the Renegade Wheelchair, all decked out in camo
with a ground blind, gun holder and all the other accessories.
I am not sure the event could have even taken place without
them” says Blaine Anthony from North American Safari.
The event will be filmed for national airing on The Sportsman Channel,
which is slated to air sometime in May 2011.

up, understand that he has spent little, if any, time putting this into
practice.

A trick these guys will do in order for you to think they are well versed in
grappling is to say something like “I have trained BJJ since 1995″ or “I
have trained with Rickson Gracie for 10 years”. What they are
ACTAULLY saying is “I did a BJJ seminar in 1995 and have watched a
few UFCs, seen a couple of DVDs, and watched some clips on YouTube,
but I have not actually continuously trained BJJ at all”. BJJ is very

with counting on foul techniques to bail you out is an implicit belief that
you will be able to perform them. I guarantee you, if you are on the
bottom against someone who has more than a vague idea of what to do
from there; you most likely will have little if any freedom to execute said

Let’s think about this for a moment. If I am a grappler, and I am on top
of you, I most likely want to do one of four things – strike you, slap on a
choke or joint attack, pull a weapon, or hold you for my buddies to stomp
you. To do any of those things requires me to have CONTROL! I must
have control over your head, arms, and/or hips. As a grappler, I know
(from all that mat time) that if I don’t do that, I will either fail in my
attack, or you will be able to escape. So my entire approach is about
controlling those things. Therefore, if I am controlling your arms so I can
attack you with an armbar or keep you in place, how are your arms going
to be free to grab and viciously twist my love handles? How are you going
to have your arms free to gouge my eyes?

useful. But you better have a decent understanding of how ground
fighting truly works before counting on it. Does this mean I think
everyone should be spending 10 hours a week on the mat doing BJJ? Not
at all, but you do need to have spent a little time learning and working
basic fundamental concepts, techniques, and physical movements and
how to recognize the right timing for each. Seek out a qualified coach
who has put the work in, and who is not trying to sell you a bill a goods
for the sake of his own ego.

Small impact tools (SIT) offer a force multiplier and option for carry of a
tool in non-permissive environments such as municipal facilities,
hospitals and airports. Utilization and SIT training integrates well with
and shares common movements with many practical empty hand
combative skills and point driven edged weapon applications.
Small impact tools also provide another force option that can be utilized
depending upon the circumstances of the situation.
Remember, pulling a folding knife out of your pocket and striking with
the closed folder is a viable application of non-lethal force but in many
jurisdictions it will still be construed as you pulling a knife.
Some ladies whom I’ve worked with were not comfortable carrying or the
thought of deploying an edged weapon but took to the suggestion of a
small hand-held impact tool rapidly, without hesitation.
Some Small Impact Tool Considerations:
• Whatever tool you choose to EDC it must be readily available. Like
pepper spray or OC, a “keychain” kubotan is of no use buried at the
bottom of a purse or backpack.
• Many traditional kubotans, palm sticks and keychain devices are
VERY overt in my humble opinion. These types of SIT could
possibly draw unwanted attention from friends and co-workers or
provide information about your possible level of preparedness to
potential assailants.
• Some commonplace SIT’s seen today include the newest trend and
flood of “Tactical Pens” and tactical flashlights into the market.
Both offer excellent dual purpose applications.
• While pens and flashlights are applicable consider that TSA and
commercial security companies are more aware than ever of these
items and their potential uses; be aware of this and plan
accordingly. A standard sharpie marker, firm metal pen, wooden
stylus or letter opener stowed in your carry-on serves the purpose
without giving away your situational preparedness or holding you
up. Although I like collecting gear and tactical items I do my best to
not carry them openly when traveling and attempt to blend in as
best I can. The highly visible pocket clips found on folding knives,
tactical flashlights and tactical pens can be a target indicator to
some.
• If traveling or working in a non-permissive environment, consider
carrying a SIT in the same location or general area as your primary
EDC personal protection tools (firearm, folding knife or fixed
blade knife). This will facilitate easier access and deployment of the
SIT without having to add another motor skills to be trained such
as accessing from an off body location or breast pocket etc..
Carrying the SIT in the same pocket as your folding knife for
example provides commonality of movement when accessing and
drawing either tool.

Conclusion:
A tool is better than no tool when it comes to personal protection.
Criminals do not hesitate to use any items they can to commit their
intended crimes. Research and consider integrating a small impact tool
into your own or a loved ones personal defense profile.
Remember that any tool requires the proper software and an
understanding of justifiable use and proper, effective
application, so get some training.

Dover, Delaware --(Ammoland.com)- DNREC Division of Fish and

Wildlife Enforcement agents on Jan. 8 arrested three upstate men on
charges of waterfowl violations related to an incident on Indian River
Bay in Sussex County.

Ryan W. Moody, age 28, of Bear, was arrested and charged with carrying
a loaded firearm in a vessel, hunting from a vessel and possession of
unlawfully taken game. Randolph S. Moody, age 26, of Middletown, was
arrested and charged with over limit on waterfowl and possession of
unlawfully taken game.

organization, the Boone and Crockett Club.
Theodore Roosevelt founded Boone and Crockett Club in 1887. Its

and their habitats, upholding the highest standards of fair-chase
sportsmanship and maintaining records of native North American big
game species.
Wallace becomes the Club’s 29th president, following the tenure of
Lowell E. Baier.

Conference on North American Wildlife Policy.
One of my greatest concerns is that loopholes exist in certain
federal laws and regulations intended for the greater good of
wildlife and wild places, and that these loopholes are actually
blocking sound, science based management on public and
private lands. Another concern is that provisions in these
laws are allowing taxpayer’s moneys intended for wildlife
management and conservation programs to be spent
elsewhere.
I also see the need for more like-minded groups to come
together to address today’s challenges. Those who generate
money for conservation and wildlife management need to be
more closely linked with those who spend those monies on
the ground. Hunting and shooting industry manufacturers
whose products generate excise tax revenues should have a
clear line of communication with federal and state wildlife
agencies, conservation organizations and other wildlife
professionals who understand the science and how best to
spend these monies to benefit wildlife and their habitats.

Iowa - -(Ammoland.com)- The fight for gun rights is underway at the
Capitol as the new legislative session has begun.
Read below for information about the bills that IGO is working on this
year.

The 2011 session of the 84th General Assembly kicked off this week in
Des Moines and Iowa Gun Owners was on hand to continue the fight for
our 2nd Amendment freedoms.

replaced a candidate who supported banning semi-auto
weapons. Pearson will be the lead sponsor for REAL Right-
to-Carry/Constitutional Carry this year for Iowa Gun
Owners.)
After a long two year fight, we were able to take the results of the votes
we obtained in the House and Senate and kick out close to two dozen
anti-gun legislators who voted against REAL Right-to-
Carry/Constitutional Carry!
As well, Governor Culver, who refused to complete the Iowa Gun Owners
2010 Candidate Survey was defeated by Governor Branstad, who did
answer his survey 100% pro-gun.
As a result, this year looks promising for Iowa gun owners. Thank you for
helping us get to this point!
This year Iowa Gun Owners will be working on REAL Right-to-
Carry/Constitutional Carry that we almost passed last legislative
session.
REAL Right-to-Carry would allow law abiding Iowans to carry a weapon
for self-defense WITHOUT needing to first obtain government
permission.
Recognizing that criminals don’t follow the laws regarding guns, this bill
would do away with the seemingly endless bureaucratic headaches
currently associated with being able to exercise your 2nd Amendment
rights.
This is the law currently in Vermont, Alaska, Arizona, most of Montana
and may become law in Wyoming this year as well.

In addition, we are working on a Stand Your Ground/Castle
Dostrine bill that would give very important protections to all Iowans
who find themselves in the position of needing to use force to defend

themselves from violent criminal attack.
This bill simply states that you no longer have to retreat in the face of an
attack and that you are allowed to meet force with force. Further,
whereas some states only attach this protection to you in your home, this
bill will provide legal protection to you anywhere that you are legally
allowed to be in the state.
Also, this bill gives full immunity to you from criminal and civil
prosecution so long as the shooting was justified. In this way, an Iowan
who was already forced to go through a terrible ordeal (defending
himself from a violent criminal) will not have to worry about being drug
through a civil court where he may lose millions of dollars.
Finally, Iowa Gun Owners will be working this year on an effort to repeal
Iowa’s Permit-to-Purchase handguns altogether. The overwhelming
majority of states in the nation have repealed this unconstitutional law.
In those states, private citizens can buy and sell handguns amongst
themselves without needing the government to authorize it.
These are ambitious goals. But with your help, we will
continue to advance the cause for gun rights here in Iowa.
We’ve made some progress, but we have much to do. In fact, recent
reports out of Dubuque County would indicate that the sheriff there is
assuming the power to decide what training he is willing to accept and
what training he won’t accept when you apply for your permit.
This is outrageous – and this is just one of the issues that we were very
opposed to in last year’s bill.
Training, while a good idea, should be optional. Now we have a situation
where one government official can decide who can offer you training
(does anyone see a possible financial incentive here since law
enforcement is one of the primary entities that can offer this training?)
and if you go to an unapproved trainer you will not get your permit.
Not to mention the fact that the only approved course may just have a six
month waiting list.
So much for shall issue.
It’s time for all Iowans to get together and support the REAL Right-to-
Carry/Constitutional Carry that would truly restore the 2nd Amendment
here in Iowa.
Please take a moment to sign the petition, if you’ve not already done so,
calling on the General Assembly to pass this bill this year!
We will be updating you often during the next few months and we
encourage you to take the action requested in these emails.
We need to maintain the pressure and hold this new General Assembly
to their promises.

One interesting thing that an Iowa Gun Owners supporter brought to our
attention is something that we’ve not yet heard much about in the
national news.

One of the men who tackled and pinned the shooter to the ground was
carrying a concealed firearm!!

When asked by the media about his actions that day

Joe Zemudio said, “…I just came running up to him – I carry

a firearm, so I wasn’t really afraid.”

From what we know at the moment, Mr. Zemudio wasn’t in the
