Task 5: Design an abstract cardboard sculpture based on the

shapes, colours and lines in your previous composition.

• Select some of the shapes that you included in your

Kandinsky inspired abstract painting or collage to
create a design for a cardboard sculpture
• You will need to consider:
Y7 Abstract Forms

• How big your sculpture will be

• How you are going to make it stand up
• How you are going to attach the pieces to each other
• How you are going to make it look like Kandinsky’s
work
• What it will look like from different angles as it will be 3D
• Draw your design on paper and label it to explain
what each part is and how your sculpture will be
made
• Include colour choices on your design too

Stretch and Challenge: Can you do some research into abstract sculpture? Find out about artists who are famous
for creating abstract sculptures. What materials do they use? How do they use these materials to make sculptures?
