DESIGN OF LAMINATED ELASTOMERIC BEARING


FOR EFFECTIVE SPAN OF 18.7m
Elastomeric bearing has been designed primarily for normal vertical loads and horizontal braking force and to cater for seismic effect, the
separate system of seismic reaction block has been provided both in longitudinal and trasverse direction.

Basic features of superstructure


Span c/c of brg. = 18.700 m
Span c/c of exp. Joint = 20.000 m
deck width = 12.500 m
Depth of superstructure = 1.720 m

Nos. of brg per span = 8


Coefficient of thermal expansion = 12.0E-06 /o C
Temparature Variation (T) = 36 /o C
Residual creep strain in girder = 0.00061212 Per 10 Mpa
Average stress at CG of girder = 0 Mpa
Shrinkage strain = 0.0002

Material Specifications:
Shear modulus of elastomeric bearing, G = 0.9 N/mm2 (As per table 2 IRC 83 Part 2 2018)
Bulk modulus of the elastomeric bearing, Eb = 2000 N/mm2
Adhesion strength of elastomer to steel plate (min) = 7 kN/m
