A multilingual poetry event for youth intended to showcase emergent writers and linguistic diversity in celebration for the
5th anniversary of Satakielklubi at Vuotalo. The night will have new talents performing poetry material created at ​Jenni
Hurmerinta​, ​Juho Kuusi​ and ​Aura Nurmi​’s creative writing workshops.

Event Introduction:

Satakieliklubi​ is celebrating its 5th anniversary! The event is a multimedia literature night that introduces and
highlights international literature and translation in dialogue with sound art and design. The program has been a
pioneer experience in Finland, gathering professional and emerging trans-national language writers based in the
Nordic region with backgrounds from more than 20 nationalities.
This fifth edition is possible in cooperation with Mutanttikieltä project, Vuotalo and Nordic Literatures in Change
and Exchange; with the support of Koneen Säätiö and Nordic Culture Point.

Musicians:

Natalia Castrillón is a harpist from Colombia based in Helsinki interested in sharing the sound of the harp in diverse
artistic contexts. Inspired by world music and experimental improvised music she works actively in multidisciplinary
projects with artists from different backgrounds/disciplines such as theatre, dance, visual arts, poetry, experimental
music among others. She has a master's degree in Global Music (Glomas) from the Sibelius Academy and also works as a
music teacher in the International School of Music Finland.

Juan de Dios Magdaleno​ is a Mexican composer with a Master’s Degree in Composition at the University of Music and
Performing Arts in Graz under the guidance of Pierluigi Billone and Gerd Kühr. During 2014 – 2015 Juan realized
postgraduate studies under the guidance of Beat Furrer at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria.
His music has been played in Mexico, Canada, the Netherlands, Poland, England, USA, Italy, Spain, France, Finland and
Austria by several ensembles and musicians. Juan currently lives in Helsinki where he pursues doctoral studies at the
Centre for Music and Technology, Sibelius Academy.

Kemê (Spain) is a visual artist, poet, singer and culture worker based in Helsinki who works with photography,
performance, Installation and text, In a process that explores the complexity of our construction and the
constructions we inhabit, as our roles in it, not predefined or static. As a poet, Kemê starts writing at an early
age at the squads where she was living, collaborating in several magazines, fanzines and independent
publications, often under pseudonyms. Kemê has published one photobook, and a photozine which combines
fiction and photography and two independent poetry compilations.

Petra Mölstad, a Swedish Poet and critic, was born in Landskrona and lives in Malmö. Her debut was the poetry
collection Införsel (2013). In 2015, she published Omloppstid and, in 2017, the newly founded editorial house
Anti published Vi har hägn. Her poems has been published in three anthologies –Om detta sjunger vi inte
ensamma, dock-ument anti-logi and Världens kortaste antologi– and she has contributed with poems and
essays in a number of literary magazines. In March 2017, Petra Mölstad was the featured poet in the radio show
Månadens diktare at Swedish Radio P1.

SOUND POETRY from HEL is a Helsinki-based art collective who gather artists from different fields who want to
experiment, collaborate and exchange through the art form of sound poetry. The media are the interplays,
intersections, and no-man's lands between different forms of expression—written, sonic, visual, tactile,
somatic, physical—without placing restrictions on meaning or structure.

This time the ensemble is formed by ​Anna Koho​, ​Jessica Calonius​, ​Heidi​ and ​Diliana Stoyanova​.

Juho Kuusi is a spoken word poet originally from Järvenpää but now living in Helsinki. He has been performing
poetry for over 10 years now, has won the national Finnish Poetry Slam championship twice and is a board
member of the highly acclaimed Helsinki Poetry Connection. Juho will bring to the stage an "Animal Themed
Spoken Word Poetry Seminar" and you can expect a wide range of styles and emotions, considering both the
textual and the performative side of his poetry.

Host Light NA​ - ​Najlaa Eltom​ | 2 min

Najlaa Eltom, a Sudanese writer and translator based in Sweden. Her literary interests include poetry, short
story, literary essay and commentaries. Some of her work is translated into English and Swedish. She is
engaged in literary translation and contributed to the translation of several Sudanese literary texts to English
including the winner text of Cane Prize 2017. Her first poetry collection was published in 2007, by Kaf Noon,
Cairo. In January 2019 she released her second collection, by Rafiqi Publishing House, South Sudan. She moved
to Sweden in 2012.
