One way that we can show similarities between ourselves and the people
we talk to is like this:
A: I love Indian food.
B: Yeah, me too. / Yeah. So do I. / I do, too.
o I like tennis - So do I.
o I watch the news every day - Yeah, I do too.
Therefore, if Person A likes pop music but Person B doesn't like pop
music. We do not express it like this:
A: I like pop music.
B: Neither do I.
”Neither do I” is used to show agreement with a negative verb
statement:
A: I don't like chocolate.
B: Neither do I.
When B wants to show that his/her views are different from A's, it can
be done like this:
B. so am I / neither do I ฯลฯ
So am/is/are…,
was/were…, do/does…, did…
Neither have/has…, can…, will…,
would…
So am I = I am too Neither am I = I’m not
So have I = I have either
too(ฯลฯ) เช่น Neither can I = I can’t
A: I’m working. either(ฯลฯ) เช่น
B: So am I.(= I’m A: I haven’t got a key.
working too) B: Neither have I.(= I
A: I was late for work haven’t either)
today. A: Ann can’t cook.

โปรดสังเกตว่าเราใช้ So am I (ไม่ใช่ ‘So I am’) และ Neither
have I (ไม่ใช่ ‘Neither I have’)
