PROJECT GUIDELINES
GUIDELINES FOR B. Tech MAIN PROJECT
These guidelines for successful completion of B.Tech. projects are to facilitate in
effective and uniform regulation of projects being carried out by undergraduate
students in Final semester. Department will designate one faculty member as the
Project Coordinator. Project Coordinator will get all the presentations conducted
and keep all records.
The B. Tech. project is a partial requirement for successful completion of the
degree. It can be two types:

provided in this document. This document is also designed for easy understanding
and implementation for the students. These guidelines include the complete
descriptions of the Project work during the final semester and Rules to be
followed, etc.

EVALUATION PROCESS:
1.Formation of Project Groups:
In order to ensure participation of each student, the project size should
preferably be 2 and not more than 3 students. Formation of project groups should be
done such that each group has representation of students with varying academic
merit from best to average. In view of this following practice may be followed;
Decide total number of feasible groups. Any left-out student(s) should be randomly
attached to any group.

2. Assigning Faculty Supervisors:


Faculty supervisors / Project Guides may be assigned to each project group either
by the
choice of student groups or by faculty expertise.
3. Project Monitoring:
The B. Tech. Project activity being spread over one semester i.e. Final semester
needs regular monitoring. Following schedule may be followed to ensure continuous
monitoring of the project progress. Students are supposed to deliver 5
presentations.

The evaluation for all these presentations should be made by the Project Review
Committee (PRC) comprising of Head of Department, Project Coordinator and Two or
Three faculty members from the Department.

Total internal marks (50) break up is as follows: -

First Presentation: First presentation related to identification of the work /


project to be carried out must be completed within 10-15 days of project group
formation. For this brief power point presentation of tentative topic, proposed
work and methodology to be adopted for carrying out the project may be made in the
department in the presence of faculty members involved. This presentation should
specifically include a work plan Chart for the proposed work. The faculty members
will approve the topics and give suggestions, if any in the interest of project
proposals. No marks presentation contains not more than 5-6 slides. Project
approval is done in this presentation.

Second Presentation: Second presentation for reviewing the progress may be held
after about one month from the date of First presentation. In the second
presentation students should be asked to make power point presentation of the
progress made till date which will be reviewed by the faculty members. Evaluation
of progress of the project may be done as per the criteria mentioned in the format
given below.

Third Presentation: Third presentation for reviewing the progress may be held after
about one month from the date of Second presentation on the similar lines and
evaluated accordingly.

Fourth Presentation at the end of Final Semester: In this presentation students


should be asked to make power point presentation of the work completed during the
whole semester. Three days prior to fourth presentation students should submit

the project work completed in Final semester may be held as per convenience of the

Evaluation of work completed in Final semester should be done as per the criteria

PROJECT DIARY:
Every student is expected to maintain a project book (log book) diaries the day to
day work on the projects and this habit makes the report writing easy. Also, every
discussion that the student has with the guide, senior
