Cassandra Pahugot Reading Philippine History

BA Filipino 2-A Mr. Cyrus Amatong

The history of a nation is the study of its rise, development, and outcome. It
explains the present and guides the way to future. As a subject, reading the Philippines
history is not meant to be mechanically memorized and later be forgotten, but should be
used to derive valuable insights and perspectives on what we are and what we want to
be. History (from Greek ἱστορία, historia, meaning "inquiry, knowledge acquired by
investigation") is the study of the past, particularly how it relates to humans. ... Scholars
who write about history are called historians. Events occurring prior to written record are
considered prehistory. In preserving the history we have a primary and secondary
source of data; Primary sources include documents or artefacts created by a witness to
or participant in an event. Primary sources may include diaries, letters, interviews, oral
histories, photographs, newspaper articles, government documents, poems, novels,
plays, and music. Secondary sources analyze a scholarly question and often use
primary sources as evidence. Secondary sources include books and articles about a
topic. They may include lists of sources, i.e. bibliographies, that may lead you to other
primary or secondary sources. Databases help you identify articles in scholarly journals
or books on a particular topic.
The economic and political issue of the Philippines are being centralized in the
history which the corruptions begin and the religious belief changes the mind-set of
every Filipinos. The Monastic Supremacy in the Philippines is also implemented
especially in the three major branches of a country; the Politics, Religion and the
Economy. The subject “Reading The Philippine History” also indicate the taxation during
the Spaniards time, which made the Filipino before suffer more in their hands and their
ruling. It’s also stated the Philippine Constitution, the 1897 of Biak-na-bato, Tydings-
Mcduffie Act of 1934 and the 1986 Freedom Constitution of the country.

However, in order to preserve our history some individuals create a museum,

cultural communities which all evidence that we have will be preserve and will never be
gone and forgotten. Local history does matters because it is one of the reasons why we
have cultures and beliefs. It makes us Filipinos to strengthen our beliefs and identity. A
nation without history is like a living soul with no body.
