Research can provide deeper insight into a topic, better understanding

of problem, more clearly defined opportunities for and constraints on possible
action, measurement of regularities and ordered opportunities. In
architectural design research, there are many challenges and changes in
association with human mental and physical experience in built form in
association with the environmental behavior. The research is not only for
problem solving, it has to identify and from which there might be unfamiliar
problems or unexpected findings can occur. The open minded and creativity
ability on doing of analyzing in orderly, impersonally and sharply
identification on purposes and things are the essential skills of a good
researcher. From those skills, researcher can ask hypotheses, the pre
judgement on the problems which serve as the basic for further systematic
data gathering and finally tenable solutions. The research concept plays the
vital role in research because at the beginning, a researcher needs to choose
a timely effective procedure to reach successful research project.
Researchers do not approach problems with empty minds. We need to
have preconception on our research interest based on individual
experiences and influences from social factors, but it can also lead to
distortion of information, bias on explanation and limitation of concept
develop. Whatever, these preconceptions or advance guesses can be used as
reference point for further observations. Hypotheses in exploratory way can
assist in clear focusing on investigation of problems and collection data to
analyze. It is also like a physical study model for designers which means it
can be tested and changed under the newly finding from experimentation.
By looking directly on the implications of research problem organization and
at the data, can bring distinct answer to questions with generation and test
on both manifest and latent explanations or Explanatory Hypotheses.
The field study or observation by looking at the phenomena
concerning with the problems can also help to develop hypotheses for the
researcher. Single observations or one-way testing of hypotheses should be
not only based on the own observation but also to look at other observation
or perspective on the same or similar problems.
Sampling the data from people, places or events to find out something
is one of the useful methods for research. But, it is required to choose and
precise scope down on problems study, if not, error can occur when
researchers generalize too much or little. To reduce the error, randomized
data sampling from the field and matching the similar data can be done.
So, researchers have to carry their tasks with the knowledge to choose
the effective and clear research methods that can minimize the chance of
losing and blocking in his or her research activities. We exam and observe
the problems and new findings by asking questions and making hypotheses
that required to be tested scientifically and logical way along with the test
and experimentations.
