Dear Braeburn Parents/Guardians,

REF: BRAEBURN HIGH SCHOOL CAREERS DAY

Braeburn High School runs an annual Careers Day in the second term of the academic year. On this
day we invite people in different and varied professions to come and share their working and life
experiences with our students. This exercise is useful to all students in the school but mostly aimed at
students making key decisions regarding their future studies. Year 9 students will soon be deciding
which subjects to select as their optional (elective) subjects for IGCSE.

This exercise is also useful for the year 11 students who are planning their next stage of study which
will provide their route to tertiary institutions and need to align their choices to possible professions they
may want to follow. For the year 13 student who are about to join universities and colleges, information
gained on Careers Day will hopefully help them make up their mind on which courses to pursue at the
next stage.

We as school feel it is important for them to have exposure to varied professions and an understanding
of the personal qualities and subjects needed to qualify for those professions. By encountering and
talking to practicing professionals, the student will have knowledge of the challenges and rewards of
different professions.

Braeburn High School is kindly requesting for parents/guardians who are willing to give their time and
talk to our students about their respective professions to volunteer to attend this year’s Careers Day,
which will take place on Wednesday 30th January 2013, from 6pm – 8pm.

We hope to see as many parents/guardians as possible.
