Mid Term Paper – Due June 19th, 2020 – 11:59pm

Scenario:

You are the Vice President of Human Resources for a large global tech company selling
mobility devices and electronics called “Banana”. The last several years have been difficult
due to global competitiveness within the industry. It is really difficult to recruit and retain
people talent and as such “Banana” has been unable to grow and expand in alignment with the
organizations strategic plans. The CEO of “Banana” has asked you as the VP of Human
Resources to redesign the HR department and prepare a comprehensive Human Resources
Strategy paper aligned with the firms goals to grow and expand, in addition to being a
preferred employer in the sector. To create a comprehensive plan for the CEO, you will need
to ensure that focussed information is included regarding recruitment practices, workforce
trends, onboarding and training.

Briefly discuss your approach on the following topics (and provide your reasoning):

a. What jobs will you be focussing your efforts on? ie. Identify the steps you will
undertake to conduct a job analysis. (Designing and Analyzing Jobs – Chapter 3)
b. What have the trends have been for your organization and sector? (Human
Resources Planning – Chapter 4)
c. What will be your recruitment approach? (Talent Acquisition – Chapter 5).
d. What will be your onboarding and training approach? (Onboarding and Training –
Chapter 6)

Information:

1. The midterm exam is 25% percent of your final mark.

2. Please submit your exam on Moodle no later than 11:59pm on Friday June 19th, 2020.
You must put your name, student number, and class section number on the paper. I will
not accept any late exam submissions. You will receive a mark of zero if I didn’t receive it
at that time.

3. Do not email me for guidance, clarification, or help. This is your midterm exam and like a
regular exam, you need to complete this without my help. Utilize other resources like the
Internet, your textbook, college resources that may help you with writing papers etc.
4. Single spaced, 12 point font – no longer than five (5) pages.
