VI. CLASS POLICIES

a. Each student must submit a 3 x 5 index card with his name on the upper left hand corner
(surname first), a 1 x 1 inch recent picture, and other pertinent information (e.g. degree
program) to be discussed by the professor. The index card is due on the class’s second
meeting.
b. Each student is required to have his/her own 146 x 198 mm softbound composition
notebook. The notebook is to be submitted to the professor at the end of each class
exercise.
c. Late assignments and other school work will merit a grade of zero.
d. Cheating will not be tolerated. It is the student’s responsibility to avoid even the

appearance of cheating (e.g. glancing on the paper of classmates during examination;

going on a restroom break while the examination is going on, etc.) A student who
appears to be cheating will be given a W (i.e. WARNING) mark on his/her paper. While a
W doesn’t affect the student’s score for that particular requirement in any way, a
student who obtains a W for the 3rd time will be asked to drop the course. A student
caught cheating, however, will be automatically given a final grade of F and will be
dropped from the subject.
e. No make-up requirements will be given as substitute for missed exercises.
f. If a student, for meritorious reasons, fails to take a long test, his/her score in major
examination will also be his/her score in the missed long test, provided he presents
proper documents (e.g. medical certificate) to excuse his absence. He/She, however,
cannot miss any two long tests in a term. In such case, the second missed long test will
merit a grade of zero.
g. There will be a removal examination for this course for students who obtain a grade of
72.00% to 74.99%. A grade of INC will be given for those who fail to take the removal
examination on the prescribed schedule due to valid reasons. Otherwise, a grade of F
will be given.
h. Only one removal examination is allowed. Passing the removal examination results in a
final grade of 3.0. Failure in the removal examination results in a final grade of F.
i. No permit, no exam. Students are required to show examination permit before they are
given major examination. Unless approved by the administrative office, delayed payment
resulting in non-issuance of examination permit is not considered a meritorious cause
for missing a major exam. In the case that the administrative office grants a permit to
take a special examination after the scheduled date despite non-meritorious causes, the
student may be given a make up examination. However, the student will be penalized
with a deduction of 10%.

VII. GRADING SYSTEM

Major Examinations 40%

Long Examinations 40%
Assignments and Class Exercises 20%
Total 100%

Final Grade = Prelims * 30% + Midterm * 30% + Finals * 40%

Passing for this course is 60/100 = 75% = 3.0.
