INTRODUCTION
St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai is an autonomous institute which gained its auton-
omy in 2001. Since then, it has upgraded its syllabus and incorporated various
developments in the curriculum, one of them being the Bachelor of Management
Studies (BMS). The entrance test for St. Xavier’s BMS programme offers admis-
sion to three-year Bachelors degree courses in management. St. Xavier’s Entrance
is a written test of objective type questions on an OMR sheet. Around 60 seats are
filled by qualifying candidates after written rounds and personal interview.

As per the St. Xavier’s BMS important dates 2018, the exam will be held offline
on June 2, 2018. The application window for the same will be open from May 1
to May 30. The eligibility criteria of St Xavier’s BMS entrance test mentions that
candidates must have passed Class 12 with a certain minimum percentage which

Admit card: The admit card of St. Xavier’s BMS will be available upon confirmation of
payment of application fee. Upon downloading, candidates must affix a recent passport size
photograph on the admit card and get the same attested by their school/college principal.

Result / Merit List: The result of St. Xavier’s BMS 2018 will be announced in the second
week of June. On the basis of the result, candidates will be selected for interview round. The

ST. XAVIER’S BMS ELIGIBILITY


CRITERIA
In order to appear for St. Xavier’s BMS entrance exam 2018, candidates must
meet the eligibility criteria laid down by St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. General
category candidates must have passed Class XII exam or equivalent in the same
year as BMS admission (i.e. 2018) with aggregate of 65 per cent marks from a
recognized institute. Also, the candidates from General category must be born on
or after June 1, 1995 (for 2018 academic year). There is a slight relaxation in the
eligibility terms for reserved categories and SC/ST category candidates.

Highlights of St. Xavier’s BMS Eligibility Criteria 2018


●● Applicants should have completed their Class XII or equivalent examination from any
board, national or state, or equivalent qualifying test. This is the basic qualifying exami-
nation required to be eligible for the St. Xavier’s BMS Entrance Test.
●● Candidates who have appeared or passed Intermediate (10+2) or Two-year pre-univer-
sity examination conducted by a recognised Board or University are also eligible.
●● Aspirants having High School Certificate exam of the Cambridge University or Inter-
national Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva will
also be eligible.
●● Applicants who have appeared for Senior Secondary School exam conducted by the
National Institute of Open Schooling with minimum five subjects will be eligible.
●● Those with a diploma in any Engineering branch with a duration of two to four years
after passing the Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C.) exam conducted by the Board of
Technical Education, Maharashtra State or equivalent examination will also qualify to
take the St. Xavier’s BMS Entrance Test.

Additionally, the exam conducting body has also issued certain specific guidelines
pertaining to the following factors:

Age Criteria for St. Xavier’s BMS Entrance Test 2018


●● For General category, only candidates whose Date of Birth (DOB) falls on or after June
1, 1995, are eligible to apply for the exam.
●● For Catholic community and SC/ST Category candidates, the DOB must fall on or after
June 1, 1993.
●● DOB mentioned in the school leaving certificate, first board or pre-university certifi-
cate/Birth Certificate issued by the competent authority will be acceptable.
●● In case candidates belong to a minority category, the Baptism Certificate will be
required.

Year of Passing Qualifying Exam:


●● The candidates must have passed or should be appearing in the qualifying exam in 2018
itself. If a candidate is appearing in the qualifying exam later than June 30, 2018, they
will not be eligible to apply for St. Xavier’s BMS Entrance Test 2018.
●● St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai offers 60 seats for the Bachelor of Management Studies
(BMS) programme and reserves seats for the students belonging to minority category.

Important Guidelines to Remember


●● Candidates must affix their recent passport sized photograph on the printed copy of the admit
card and get it attested by their school/college Principal or a Gazetted officer.
●● The admit card should be produced for verification as and when demanded by the invigilator
at the examination centre, failing which the candidate will not be allowed to sit for the exam.
●● In case the candidate doesn’t receive the admit card within the next two to three days of
submission of the application form, they must approach the help desk setup at the exam cen-
tre on the day of the exam. Once the officials are satisfied that the candidate has fulfilled all

ST. XAVIER’S BMS EXAM PATTERN


The official exam pattern of St. Xavier’s BMS 2018 is prescribed by St. Xavier’s Col-
lege Autonomous, Mumbai and outlines the overall structure of the entrance exam. St.
Xavier’s BMS entrance test for admission to Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS)
programme.

The exam will be divided into two sections. The first section will consist of 70 objective
type questions which evaluates the candidates’ skills such as English, Basic Math &
DI, GK and Current Affairs and Logical Reasoning. The second section is the subjec-
tive type which is more comprehensive and tests the Creative Thinking and Critical
Analysis abilities in 30 questions.

Important Guidelines for St. Xavier’s BMS Entrance

●● The paper will be in English Language and answers must be given in English only.
●● They must also carry a BLACK ball point pen.
●● Electronic devices like mobiles, iPods, smart watches, etc. and Materials like log tables, note-
books, loose papers, books, etc. are not permitted.
●● The exam conducting authority has permitted the use of a simple calculator only.
●● Candidates must ensure they do not mark more than one answer in the OMR answer sheet,
otherwise, that question will be treated as wrong and no marks will be allotted for the same.
●● For persons with disability: Students with disabilities will be granted 30 minutes extra for
writing the test and the permission to use a writer. The permission should be intimated to the
Inclusion Cell of the College by mail to neha@xrcvc.org.in with the Name of Applicant and
Online Application form no. no less than 15 days prior to the entrance test. A valid Disability
Certificate (From a Government recognized authority) must be produced at the help desk
during the day of the exam.

ST. XAVIER’S BMS RESULT AND MERIT


LIST
The result or merit list of St Xavier’s BMS 2018 is expected to be announced by the
officials in the second week of June. Only those students who appear in the test will be
able to check their result which will be available in the form of shortlist and category
wise merit list.

Additionally, the examination authority will prepare a list of shortlisted candidates
after the conduction of the exam by giving 60% weightage to the written test and 40%
to Class 12 exam. A final merit list will be prepared on the basis of a candidate’s perfor-
mance in the written exam and class 12 marks.

ST. XAVIER’S BMS CUTOFF


St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai will release the St. Xavier’s BMS entrance cutoff after the
declaration of the exam results. The cutoff refers to the minimum marks to be scored by
test takers in order to qualify for the further rounds of the selection procedure.
Until the officials announce cutoff scores of 2018, candidates can check the previous

ST. XAVIER’S BMS SELECTION


PROCEDURE
St. Xavier’s BMS 2018 selection procedure will be conducted in the third week of June.
Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the Entrance Test which
holds 60 per cent weightage. 40 per cent weightage will be given to class twelfth marks
of the candidates.
Final merit list will have the names of the selected candidates. If a candidate in the first
Merit list fails to complete the admission process within the stipulated date and time,
then their candidature shall be lapsed and the candidates in the second and subsequent
merit lists will be offered admission. Candidates who accept the offer of admission to
BMS shall pay the necessary fees.

LAST MINUTE TIPS FOR ST. XAVIER’S


BMS ENTRANCE
●● Visit the centre before time: The time and address of the venue will be mentioned in the St.
Xavier’s admit card. It is important for the students to reach the test centre before time to
avoid any glitches. Ideal time would be 1 PM.
●● Allot time to each section: Canddiates must read the instructions carefully after getting the
test booklet and start with the test by allotting time to each section. There is no section-wise
time-limit for the exam; hence they must be to be careful about the time management factor.
Buffer time of 15 minutes for revision must be kept.
●● Revise – After completing the paper, candidates must revise all the questions carefully, includ-
ing rough work done at the scratch sheet provided at the test center.
