Objectives
– Run a “Jet Fire” scenario in KFX™ and interrogate results
Learning Outcomes
– Delegates will:
– Become familiar with the KFX™ software interface
– Understand the KFX™ calculation workflow
– Understand how to:
– Import geometries
– Run calculations
– View results

Practicalities
All delegates will need to have KFX™ preinstalled and licensed on their computers
– At least 5GB of disk space needed for this tutorial
We will be using the tutorial examples provided as part of the KFX™ manual (section 4.1)
– The manual can be found here: “file:///C:/CIT/kfx_v3.2-3/doc/kfxman.pdf”
The workshop duration is just 2-3 hours long which means it is not possible to go into a lot of
detail…
Nevertheless, please ask questions as we go along. We will try and take quick ones, but “park”
“others” for later

Input Geometry
For this workshop we will be using a demo file that was converted from a “.dgn” format
– Open up the KFX™ Wizard and click “Load demo”
– Double click on the “small_plant.kfx”

Keyboard shortcuts:
– “G” centres the object
– “.” focusses the point of rotation (yellow ball) on
the location of the mouse
– “Up/Down” moves the object up/down
– “Left/Right” rotates the object
– “Shift” + “Up/Down” moves the object up/down in
the z axis
– “Shift” + “Left/Right” moves the object left/right
– “Shift” + “</>” zooms in/out
– “z” button for plan view (i.e. x & y planes)
– “y” for the vertical view (i.e. x & z planes)
– “x” for the horizontal view (i.e. y & z planes)
