Leadership Reflection
In my book, leadership is a quality which a person or a group of persons(management) has
and it is used in making wise decisions in any organisation, apart from this it also includes
motivation and inspiring others to perform well in the given tasks or projects. Leadership is
not only concerned with leading an organisation in one correct direction while it also includes
understanding and adopting best possible alternative ways in which company or any
organisation can benefit. I think a good leader is a person who establishes a good and clear
vision of the plans and who has the ability to share it with others so the plans can be followed
correctly leading to the betterment of an organisation, provided that the information delivered
to fellow members of the organisation is properly taught to them with correct methods.
Sharing the plans with others help them to easily adopt such methods and execute them in an
efficient manner. It also assists in coordinating and balancing the different interest of all
members. Apart from these abilities, a leader should also step up in the time of crisis and he
should be able to think and take action in a creative manner in all the difficult situations and
as creativity cannot be taught similarly I would say that leadership is something which cannot
be taught, it can only be learnt and made better with proper guidance and experience.
There are so many things or i can say
lessons which i have learnt about leadership, one of them is that leader should not only
dictate his plans to the members while he should share these ideas and also listen to the views
of the members so that improvement can be made if possible. Members always listen to their
leader because of his position but leader should listen to his members as well, that is equally
important because anytime someone can come up with a good advice so it’s equally
important to listen to others as well rather than just speaking and ordering. Apart from
listening, acting on and appreciating a good advice given by the member is a good way to tell
them that the leader is listening to his members, it can also help in motivating the members
and accordingly Second thing which i have learnt is that motivating the members is also
equally important as other things. A true leader always gives the opportunities to his
members to improve themselves and their work and motivates them by appreciating or
rewarding them. Moreover, he lets his members learn from their mistakes, he gives them
chance to improve their mistakes themselves and this is possible only when a leader doesn’t
step in quickly to solve the problem, no doubt it's the duty of the leader to help its members
in the time of crisis but he should come up with solution very quickly because such practice
might not let his members grow or enhance their ability he should let his subordinates try first
and so they can learn new things and can get the experience to cope up with various
situations. I believe that these are the things which are mostly neglected or overlooked which
somehow affect an organisation's performance directly or sometimes indirectly, so these are
the things which I’ve learnt along with other aspects of leadership which will definitely help
me and my organisation.
As stated above that there are various aspects of
study of leadership which has variety of implication at present and in future as well. I have
gone through variety of lessons of leadership which will have certain implication for me in
future. For instance, as i have learnt that a leader should share his vision and live his values,
and i think it really helps in inspiring others as it keeps a leader engaged with his members in
a good way; this is possible only when a leader is aware of his own values. It will also help to
shape organisational values as well, so he should be aware that the values a leader possesses
play a major role in moulding a company's value. Apart from this I think being aware of
cultural differences is also important as in any organisation people from various cultures
work similarly their ideology regarding different situation or the way they work in distinct
circumstances may also differ which might lead to difference of opinions and sometimes
minor or major conflicts and to avoid unnecessary conflict or issues it is necessary to be
aware of cultural differences so that these difficult circumstances can be avoided or dealt
properly if arise anyway.
Learning never ends so i think there is a lot more which I need to
learn and do. First of all what I need to know that how can I learn various practices or styles
of leadership which can be good for my organisation. I have come across numerous minor
and major things which a leader needs to know while leading a group. one of them is that,
leader should not always try to be the smartest person and I will learn to do the same because
being a leader doesn't mean that we know more than everyone, a leader should always try to
identify, motivate and foster others as proficient as well. I think leader should give others
enough confidence to be creative and to excel in their task in their own way. As a leader I
think my duty would be to provide a good direction so that their creativity and excellence can

good contribute in organisation's progress. One thing more which can be learnt is that there
should be a sense of motive, as everyone in the organisation knows what to do and how to do
their respective task but if the motive is provided to them then a big difference can be made
in the performance because they will know that why they are doing it and where it will take
them. A leader can help them to make a proper understanding of group's goal between
members and how each member can contribute in it; it also reflects the faith of the
organisation and leader in his member's contribution or work. I reckon that these are the
things which I need to learn and understand more.
As everyone knows that no one is a born
leader so everyone can develop leadership skills and anyone can take advantage by using
them. First of all to develop my leadership knowledge and skills, I will analyse myself
honestly, while leading others we need to know them, to do that knowing our self is also
important. This is the crucial step in understanding others, which includes identifying our
strength and weakness. Once, weak and strong areas are identified then action to make proper
strategy can be taken accordingly and easily. Then I’ll make certain strategies to enhance my
leading skills for example, i will consider son do's and don'ts while leading a group of people.
one of them is that I’ll try to communicate effectively, a good leader always tries to avoid
communication barriers so I’ll avoid these too, for instance speaking down to people and
asking closed question are one of the common and major barriers which should be avoided
not only questions but answers should also be given wisely like answering with excessive
authority is also not a trait of good leadership which I’ll definitely avoid. Apart from effective
communication, another most important thing is to promote enthusiasm and sense of
belonging, which I’ll do by showing friendliness, understanding and fairness. As everyone
makes mistakes and as a good leader I’ll guide my member as friend by understanding their
mistakes and by being fair when it comes to appreciating any good work. Moreover, solving
problems effectively is also an important part of enhancing leadership skills. I will solve
Problem in a step-by-step way, whether a problem is about making any decision or to resolve
any conflict, a logical approach should always be followed .These are some of the ways
through which leadership skills can be developed.

Leading means to manifest the path by going in ahead variety of


developmental opportunities can be explored while keeping this definition of leadership in
mind. At some situations everyone gets the chance to demonstrate the path in their life .When
we give our team mates with a chance to utilize their leadership power, it means we are
providing a great opportunities to them. There are certain situations where development
opportunities can be seen and used. First of all is when any difficulty arises, if we take failure
or any mistake as learning chance as a leader then we will definitely flourish. Another
opportunity comes with change, with the great pace of changing work environment and
modes, comes great opportunities to develop, whenever any change occurs it brings certain
responsibilities with it and also gives chance to explore our self that how efficiently we, as a
leader can adjust or grow in that changing environment.  A situation when distinct opinions
arise is also one of the major opportunities for us to grow as a leader, when we have to help
the group to resolve the issue. In this situation with the help of leader team members can
develop their skill to communicate smoothly and we as a leader can gain key business skills
hence, team will work smoothly. Moreover if we have highly skilled member in our staff then
learning session can be organised to utilize his skill in a productive way which will be proved
as a very good developmental opportunity, like he may be asked to give presentations in
meetings and members should also be actively involved in it. Apart from this there are plenty
of development opportunities in different situations which need to be explored and utilized
properly.
To improve the leadership skills I should have a clear vision about the goal,
leader is responsible for providing the clear path to the team. For any type of goal first I need
of planning so in the leadership there should be a proper planning session and it will prove
very helpful for achieving the target. All team along with the leader should be aware about
their strengths and weaknesses. Because some persons have natural leadership skills. As a
Leader I should be passionate about the full project he should not just stuck with his part of
duty. They should be having positive values that encourage the others. Leader is always a
role model for the rest of the team. Team members always observe that how their leader walk
and talk. Leader should maintain a positive attitude that the whole team is looking the leader
and leader’s communication skills must be professionals
