Question – 1.
(a) The simple interest on a sum of money for 2 years at 4% is Rs450. Find the
compound interest on this sum of money at the same rate for 1 year if the
interest is reckoned half-yearly. [3]
(b) If x/a = y/b = z/c, prove that each ratio is equal to [(2x – 3y + 5z3)/ (2a3 – 3b3

(c) Show that (x – 1) is a factor of x – 7x + 14x – 8. Hence factorize x3 – 7x2 +

(a) List the elements of the solution set of the inequation – 3 < x – 2 ≤ 9 – 2x,

(b) The perimeter of a sheet of tin in the shape of a quadrant of a circle is 12.5 cm.
Find the area. (Take π = 22/7) [3]
(c) A shopkeeper buys a T.V. at a discount of 20% from the wholesaler, the
printed price of the T.V. is 5600 and the rate of sales tax is 6%. The shopkeeper
sells it to a customer at the printed price and charges tax at the same rate. Find :
(i) The price at which the T.V. is bought.
(ii) The VAT(Value Added Tax) paid by the shopkeeper. [4]
Question – 3.
(a) Shabana has a cumulative time deposit account in State Bank of India. She
deposits Rs500 per month for a period of 4 years. If at the time of maturity she
gets Rs28410, find the rate of (simple) interest. [3]

(c) Construct a rhombus ABCD of side 4.5 cm and LBAD = 60º, by using ruler
and compasses only. Draw the lines of symmetry. Hence prove that diagonals

(a) If sin 54º cosec (90º – θ) = 1, find the value of θ, 0º < θ < 90º. [3]
(b) In the adjoining diagram, LBQR = 45º and x = 2y. Calculate the values of x
and y. [3]

Question – 5.
(a) Find the linear relation between the components of the ordered pairs of the
relation R where R = {(2, 1), (4, 7), (1, – 2), ……}. [3]
(b) Eliminate θ between the equations :
x = a cos θ + b sin θ, y = a sin θ – b cos θ. [4]
(c) Calculate the ratio in which the line joining A(6, 5) and B(4, – 3) is divided by
the line y = 2. [3]
Question – 6.
(a) Find the roots of the equation x2 + x – (a + 2)(a + 1) = 0. [3]
(b) In the adjoining figure, AB is a common tangent to two circles intersecting at
C and D. Write down the measure of (LACB + LADB). Justify your answer. [3]

(c) A man invests Rs13500 partly in shares paying 6% at Rs140 and partly in 5%
at Rs125. If his total income is Rs560, how much he has invested in each. [4]

(a) A and B are the points (– 2, 0) and (0, 5). Find the co-ordinates of two points
C and D such that ABCD is a square and calculate the length of the diagonal AC.

(b) Two persons standing on the same side of a tower in a straight line with it,
measure the angle of elevation of the top of the tower as 30º and 60º respectively.
If the height of the tower is 70 m, find the distance between the two persons. [4]
(c) The adjoining diagram shows a pentagon, inscribed in a circle with centre O.
Given AB = BC = CD and LABC = 132º. Calculate the value of (i) LAEB (ii)
LAED (iii) LCOD. [3]

(a) Find the centre of the circle passing through the points (5, 7), (6, 6) and
(2, – 2). Also find the radius. [3]
(b) Construct a regular hexagon in a circle of radius 3 cm. [4]
(c) A line passes through the point P(3, 2) and cuts off positive intercepts, on the
x-axis and the y-axis in the ratio 3 : 4. Find the equation of the line. [3]

(c) A solid sphere and a solid hemisphere have the same total surface areas. Find
the ratio of their volumes. [4]
Question – 10.
(a) AB is a diameter of a circle with centre O. CD is a chord equal to the radius of
the circle. AC and BD produced meet at P. Prove that LAPB = 60º. [3]
(b) Construct a triangle ABP such that AB = 5 cm, BP = 3 cm and LABP = 30º.
Complete rhombus ABCD such that P is equidistant from AB and BC.
Locate the point Q on the line BP such that Q is equidistant from A and B.
[4]
(c) Rahul sold an article for Rs56 which cost him Rsx. He finds that he has gained
x% on his outlay. Find x. [3]

(a) The heights of 60 students of a school are given in the following frequency
distribution table :
