When a child is hospitalized, it is stressful for the entire family.

St. John’s Children’s Hospital places a high priority on providing
family-centered care to all patients.

• Want your lives and routines disrupted as little as possible
while your child is in the hospital.
A pediatric social worker and a child life specialist are ready to
assist you and your child.

St. John’s Children’s Hospital provides support for siblings who

are confused or having a hard time coping with their sibling being
away from home. Staff can help explain and answer questions
about illness and treatment. They use words that children of
different ages can understand. Activities are available that focus on
the sibling’s feelings and concerns.
