Self-Learning Module for Grade 11

SCIENCE
EARTH AND LIFE SCIENCE

Directions for the User

Here are some reminders to guide as you go through this module:
1. Read and follow each directions carefully;
2. Answer the pre-test before proceeding to the activity;
3. Take down notes and record points for clarification;
4. Always aim to get at least 80% of the total number of items given;
5. Be sure to answer the post test at the end of the module.

Introduction
In order to continue the cycle of perpetuation, plants must have structures such as
flower, fruits and seeds. The main role of a flower is to mediate the joining of the sperm
contained in the pollen to the ovules in the ovary. Fruits in the other hand function to protect the
seeds and its dispersal. The seeds provide the plant a way on how to spread, nourish the
embryo and protect during unfavourable conditions.
Through these parts plants are able to live and reproduce enabling the continuity of the
species generation after generation.

Reflection
This is the recipe of life
Said by my mother
As she held me in my arms as I wept
Think of those flowers you plant
In the garden each year
They will teach you
That people too
Must wilt
Fall
Root
Rise
In order to bloom
