SPECIFIC CONFIGURATION WITH EXTERNAL VOICE MAIL ON VPS LINKS.
Two VPS protocols are available on OmniPCX 4400:
- Standard VPS protocol
- Extended VPS protocol

Standard VPS protocol

This protocol is used when the external application manages only Voice Mail or Voice Mail and other features (like Wake-up, Room status) through a voice guide after connection on
the application side.
This protocol involves different phases:
♦ PBX to VPS
§ Forwarding of the Room set to Voice Mail Box.
Information provided on VPS link: A1 or AA1<Room set N°><External caller ID>.
§ Connection on external application side by Voice Mail consultation prefix for:
- Voice Mail consultation.
- Wake-up configuration.
- Room status management.
Information provided on VPS link: A2<Room set N°>.

♦ VPS to PBX
§ Wake-up call.
§ Light up message led.
§ Light off message led.

Edition 1 – January 2002 Page 6

Extended VPS protocol

This protocol is the most used (example: Comtelco, FCS...).

Extended VPS protocol is provided if license CLIP on VPS = xxx (with xxx = number of VPS links) is set on the OmniPCX 4400.
It is also used when the external application requires a code for each feature managed by it.
This protocol involves different phases:
♦ PBX to VPS
§ Forwarding of the Room set to Voice Mail box.
Information provided on VPS link: A1 or AA1<Room set N°><External caller ID>.
§ Voice Mail consultation.
Connection on external application side by Voice Mail consultation prefix.
Information provided on VPS link: A2<Room set N°>.
§ Wake-up configuration.
This solution consists in configuring a virtual set forwarded on the VPS Group. Calling this set generates an information on VPS link with the Wake-up configuration
code.
Information provided on VPS link: A1<Virtual set N°><Caller ID> with Virtual set N° = Wake-up configuration code and caller ID = Room set N°.
§ Room status management.
This solution consists in configuring a virtual set forwarded on the VPS Group. Calling this set generates an information on VPS link with the Room status management
code.
Information provided on VPS link: A1<Virtual set N°><Caller ID> with Virtual set N° = Room status management code and caller ID = Room set N°.

♦ VPS to PBX
§ Wake-up call.
§ Light up message led.
§ Light off message led.
