TECHNOLOGY IN TEACHING ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

INTRODUCCIÓN

During recent years the world has a special concern for the role and functions played by
higher education in a society that is changing by leaps and bounds, and perspectives to be
put forward to guide the actions undertake in this field. One of the major changes that has
brought education to overcome if it is well used is the use of ICTs, the educational
computer's main function is to build a knowledge and provide developments to support the
appropriate use of ICT, in improve the quality and reach of education.

In this sense it is possible to determine some characteristics that occur through the use of
computers and use them to achieve, among other advantages, the independence of time
and space communication, active participation by removing inhibitions that a person can
have to communicate with other personally and the possibility of individualized learning.

This is the challenge that all teachers are called to make our classes more interesting and
great learning. The processes taking place in the classroom should have a dynamic and
flexible nature. They require professionals to solve problems in their environment for
students to achieve learning for enhancing their development and quality of life. The
teacher today is an apprentice who lives in a time and in a sociocultural space of
permanent and changing settings. It can be guide and beacon.

The relationship between teacher and student relationship should be a liberating rather
than power or discipline only. This relationship is generated when sharing knowledge and
tools useful and momentous life; a teacher can pass on to their students a love for the
subject they teach, for research, for work, for the richness of relationships with others, for
life and especially for the discovery and building itself.

ICTS have different uses in the classroom that can make classes more engaging, one way
in which the ICTS can be implemented in the classroom is with the use of Audio tracks,
this way can be used for students to record their voices when doing a task such as an
announcement, they can record their voices and later the class can listen and give
feedback on their classmates, also as teachers you can do it to help your students with
pronunciation, by providing some corrections that can help them improve, this way can
also be done with peers so they can help each other with the necessary corrections when
making the Audios.

Second of all is of great relevance to start implementing technology in the classroom,


because is necessary to change the traditional ways of teaching in which the teacher is the
center of attention in the classroom and change to ways that the teacher is the facilitator of
knowledge and this means that the teacher is a guide in their process, here is where
technology plays an important role because with the technology the student is going to be
an active participant in his process.

For example in an institution in a course should reflect and provide guidance on teaching
English since then will enter a higher level of depth and they present a low level. The main
objective is related to the development of a pedagogical approach, the classroom project,
to guide teaching a foreign language in the educational context; ICTs offer great value to
enhance English learning tools, some of these can be Educaplay, Flashcards, Memrise,
Duolingo, Lingua.ly among many others.

Technology can bring many benefits that can help students in their learning process, one
of the benefits is that the student gain autonomy because with the use of the ICTs they are
going to search for information or investigate on their own leading them to find ways to
learn on their own. Also students are going to feel motivated to use this new tools because
is something innovative and will make them more aware of their learning and feel eager to
know more because they are active in their process. And last this can help them to
cooperate with their peers, because they can work together to get the same goal.

More over technology can also benefit the teachers in which it can give the teachers a new
motivation to teach their classes, because they`d want to change the ways they teach a
topic to an interesting way. One way is promoting group activities in which students use
tools such as the chat or the e-mail to communicate and accomplish a task. Also is a great
tool for teachers because they can transmit knowledge with videos, pictures and
animations in a dynamic and realistic way which is of great importance when students are
learning a language because this increases their ability to learn a new language.
CONCLUSION

 The use of technology in the classroom has many benefits for the teacher and the
students, in a way that can motivate students to learn the language and the
teachers to make classes more dynamic to help students learn and gain more
knowledge with the help of the teacher as a guide in their learning process. Also is
necessary to take into account that is necessary to use technology with a goal to
achieve, not just use it for entertainment but with a purpose for students to learn
something that can be useful in their everyday life.

 No doubt today in schools teaching the English language occupies a too important
role in education, much is not spoken about increasing the hours of English in
schools both in basic education such as media, have been proposed ideas after
ideas which have not been effective until the day of today and view from our
perspective.

 On the other hand, learning another language occurs it is necessary to take


account of the teaching of English taking into account their importance and the
great responsibility that entails that must be somebody suitable for this purpose.
The context influences in terms of learning from social, cultural and family
environment can be a motivator for students. Eventually students learning a
second language are benefit because it helps them better understand their first
language, increases his vocabulary and therefore they obtain better results in its
stage school, University and labor.
