you are posting and sharing on blogs in a
safe and responsible manner.

Time is up, kindly pass all your papers.

(Choose 2 papers that will be presented

in the class)
D. Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills #1
Kids, our topic for today is about Posts Yes, teacher!
and Shares Materials on Blogs in a Safe
and Responsible Manner. Are you all
ready?

Okay so there are standards for safe and

responsible blogging such the following;

 Use common sense

-But if you are in doubt, ask a
teacher or parent whether what you are
posting is considered appropriate or not.

 Err on the safe side

-If you are going to err, always be
on the safe side.
 The blog is an extension of your
classroom
-You should not write anything on
a blog that you would not want to say or
write in your classroom.
Specific Things to Consider
1. The use of blogs is considered an
extension of your classroom. Therefore,
any speech that is considered
inappropriate in the classroom is
inappropriate on a blog. This includes, but
is not limited to, profanity; racist, sexist or
discriminatory remarks; personal attacks.

2. Blogs are used primarily as learning

tools, either as extensions of
conversations and thinking outside of
regular class time, or as the basis for
beginning new classroom discussions.
Either way, be sure to follow all rules and
suggestions that are offered by your
teachers regarding appropriate posting in
your class.

3. Blogs are about ideas – therefore,
agree or disagree with the idea, not the
person. Freedom of speech does not give
you the right to be uncivil. Use
constructive criticism and use evidence to
support your position. Read others’ posts
carefully – often in the heat of the
moment you may think that a person is
saying one thing, when really they are
not.

4. Try not to generalize. Sentences that

start with words like “All” (e.g., “All
teachers,” “All administrators,” “All
liberals,” “All conservatives”) are typically
going to be too general.

5. Blogs are public. Whatever you post on
a blog can be read by anyone and
everyone on the Internet. Even if you
delete a post or comment, it has often
already been archived elsewhere on the
web. Do not post anything that you
wouldn’t want your parents, your best
friend, your worst enemy, or a future
employer to read.

6. Blog safely. NEVER post personal

information on the web (including, but not
limited to, last names, personal details
including address or phone numbers, or
photographs). (Note: The advice to not
use your last name is for your protection.
Teachers may choose to use their last
names for their posts/comments.) Do not,
under any circumstances, agree to meet
someone you have met over the Internet.

7. Because your login to the blogging site
is typically linked to your profile, any
personal blog you create in class is
directly linked to your class blog and must
follow these blogging guidelines.
8. Linking to web sites from your blog or
blog comments in support of your
argument is an excellent idea. But never
link to something without reading the
entire article to make sure it is
appropriate for a school setting.

9. Use of quotations in a blog is
acceptable. Make sure that you follow the
proper formatting and cite the source of
the quote.

10. Pictures may be inserted into a blog.

Make sure that the image is appropriate
for use in a school document and
copyright laws are followed. Do not post
any images that can identify yourself or
others.

Successful Bloggers:
The following are some traits of
successful bloggers
1. Their posts (or comments) are well
written. This includes not only
good content, but – because these
are school-related blogs – also
follows writing conventions
including spelling, grammar and
punctuation.

2. Their posts (or comments) are
responsive. They respond to other
people’s ideas – whether it is a
post by a teacher, a comment by a
student, or an idea elsewhere on
the Internet. The power of blogs is
in their connectedness – they are
connected to a larger community
of ideas. Participate in that
community.

3. Their posts (or comments) include

textual references to support their
opinions. Adding quotes or links to
other works strengthens their
response.

4. They participate frequently. To be
part of the dialogue, you have to
participate fully and consistently. 5.
They are respectful of others. It’s
okay to disagree; it’s not okay to
be disagreeable. Be respectful of
others and their opinions, and be
civil when you disagree.

Do you all understand kids?

Yes, teacher!
E. Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills #2
Now, I’ll divide the class into three, let’s 1…. 2…. 3…
start the counting from Adona.

So, where is the group 1? Let me see the

hands. Okay, all of you sit at this side.

How about the group 2? Sit at this side.

Group 3, at this side.

Now, settle down first

All the group must assign a leader,

secretary and a peacekeeper. The leader
would be the one to present the gathered
data in the class. While the secretary is
the one who will write all the data that the
members of the group gathered along the
activity process. And the peacekeeper is
of course the one who is in charge of
keeping the good behavior of the group,
since the most behave group will receive
an additional point.

The groups will create a list about your

own standard ways of safe and
responsible blogging.

Do this activity within 10 minutes.

F. Developing mastery (leads to
formative assessment)
In a 1/2 whole sheet of paper, list the
materials that are appropriate sharing and
posting on blogs.

Do this activity within 10 minutes.

G. Finding practical applications of
concepts and skills in daily
living
Gian, what is the essence of today’s Teacher, it is useful in a sense that as a
lesson in your everyday living as a student we are able to avoid future
student? mistakes by sharing and posting
inappropriate materials on blogs. This
lesson will ensure our safeties.

Correct Gian, the lesson of the day would

give us the assurance of our safeties in
terms of posting and sharing materials on
blogs.
H. Making generalizations and
abstractions about the lesson
Again, what are the best practices in (The students would answer)
sharing and posting materials on blogs in  Use common sense, but if you are
a safe and responsible manner? in doubt ask a teacher or parent
whether or not what you are
considering posting is appropriate.
 Err on the safe side, if you are
going to err, always be on the safe
side.
 The blog is an extension of your
classroom, you should not write
anything on a blog that you would
not say or write in your classroom.
Very good kids! You are all smart! And I
think all of you are ready for our quiz.
Evaluating learning
In a ½ sheet of write at least 5 ways of
ensuring that you are posting and sharing
materials in a safe and responsible
manner.
I. Additional activities for
application or remediation
i. Remediation Activity
Conduct a focus group discussion for
those students who failed in the
assessment. The teacher will ask
questions to those students pertaining the
reason why they failed and to identify how
the teacher can basically help the
students to understand the concepts they
find hard. The focus group discussion will
only last for about 30 minutes that will
suitably answer the following questions;
1. In your understanding what is a
safe and responsible blogging?
2. How can we practice the standard
ways of posting and sharing
materials on blogs?
3. What are the practices in posting
and sharing materials on blogs that
people should practice?
4. What concepts you find hard?

After identifying the weak point of the

students, the teacher will conduct a
review focusing more on the concepts
that students don’t understand well.
ii. Reinforcement Activity
The students will engage in a think pair
share activity with regards on what they
have understand in the topic that has
been discussed. And at the end, the
students will share their learnings through
oral reporting.
iii. Enrichment Activity
Create an illustration pertaining about the
best practices in posting and sharing
materials on blogs in a safe and
responsible manner.
