Volume of Revolution a

Exercise:

Q1. Find the volume generated when the area between the following curves, the x-axis
and the values of x is rotated completely about the x-axis.

a) f(x) = x+1, x = 0 and x = 4

b) f(x) = x2 – 4, x = -2 and x = 2

c) y=√ x , 1≤x≤4

d) x2+ y2 = 9, x = 0, x= 3

Q2. Find the volume generated when the area between the curve y2 = x and the line y = x

is rotated completely about the x-axis 0≤x≤1 .

Q3. Find the volume generated when the area between the curve y = x2+2 and the line
y = 6 is rotated about the x-axis.

Q4. Find the volume created when the area bounded by the curve x = 3t 2 , y = 2t3 , the
vertical lines x = 0, x = 3 and the x-axis is rotated through 360 o about the x-axis.
