Subject-Verb Agreement
Verbs must always agree with the noun or pronoun subject of a sentence both in tense and
number.
Subjects and verbs should agree with one another in number- singular or plural.
Thus, if a subject is plural, its verb must also be in plural form.
The base form is used in all other instances.
Subject-verb agreement is not applied when the tense is in the past.
Subject-verb agreement is applied when the verb be is used as a main verb or as a helping
verb in both past tenses.
