3.2.2 Checking the Required Upgrade Software or Tools

Obtain the required upgrade software or tools from Huawei engineers or Support website and
ensure that information about the obtained software is consistent with the related information
in the Release Notes and version mapping table.
Before obtaining the NetStar O&M patch installation package, you must check the version
number of the U2000 and determine the required NetStar O&M patch installa tion package
based on the U2000 version. The following figure shows the mapping between the NMS
versions and NetStar O&M patch versions.

database.
Step 4 Enter the data query window in the dbo.tbl_VerInfo table.
Step 5 Enter the query statement select verNum from tbl_VerInfo and press F5.
Step 6 Close the query window.
----End

3.3 Installing the NetStar O&M Patch

Prerequisites
 The U2000 has been upgraded to V200R018C60 and all system processes have been
started.

Check whether the U2000 processes have started.

1. Choose Start > Run. The Run window will be displayed.
2. Enter cmd and click OK.
3. In the CLI, run the daem_ps command to check whether the U2000 process is started.
If the displayed information contains imap_sysmonitor.exe, the U2000 processes have started.
If no command output is displayed, the U2000 process is not started. You can run the start_daem
command in the CLI to start the U2000 process.

The WDM_Commissioning, netstar_webserver and netstar_agent have been ended.

Run the following command as the ossuser user to check whether the
WDM_Commissioning, netstar_webserver and netstar_agent processes exist.
$ SettingTool /imap/sac/services/

The WDM_Commissioning, netstar_webserver and netstar_agent processes exist if the

Run the following command as the ossuser user to end the WDM_Commissioning,
netstar_webserver and netstar_agent processes.
$ svc_adm -cmd stopsvc WDM_Commissioning
$ svc_adm -cmd stopsvc netstar_webserver
$ svc_adm -cmd stopsvc netstar_agent

Procedure
Step 1 Copy and run the upgrade file.
1. Query the U2000 installation path as follows:
a. Choose Start > Run from the local computer where the U2000 is installed, and run
cmd.
b. In the DOS window, run %OSS_ROOT%. For example, the U2000 installation
path is D:\oss.
2. Copy the installation package
OptiX_NetStar_O_M_19.1.110.SPC2_win32_x86_ForU2000V2R18C60SPC501.zip to
the U2000 installation path.

For the NetStar O&M installation package matching different versions of NMS, the packages have
similar installation or upgrade methods. The following takes the NetStar O&M installation package
matching NMS V200R018C60CP5012 as an example.
3. Navigate to the directory for storing the software package, for example D:\oss.
4. If the source version is 7.0.310 or later than 7.0.310, check whether the following files
exist in D:\oss. If yes, delete the files. If no, go to the next step.
− mdsinstall
− netstar_o_m_upgrade.bat
− netstar_o_m_uninstall.bat
− netstar_o_m_install.bat
5. Decompress the installation package as follows: right-click
OptiX_NetStar_O_M_19.1.110.SPC2_win32_x86_ForU2000V2R18C60SPC501.zip
and choose Extract Here from the shortcut menu to decompress the installation package
to the current path.
6. After the decompression, double-click the netstar_o_m_patch.bat file in the U2000
installation path to start upgrading the NetStar O&M.
After patch installation is complete, the following message will be displayed.

Step 2 Restart the U2000 server.

Choose Start > Run and run cmd.

For example, if the U2000 is installed in D:\oss, run the following command in the screen that
is displayed:
cd /d D:\oss\server\platform\bin (Press Enter after the command is input.)
stopnms.bat (Press Enter after the command is input. After all processes are ended,
run the next command.)
startnms.bat (Press Enter after the command is input.)

Step 3 Reorganize CAU on the server.

1. Exit the U2000 client if you have logged in to the U2000 client from the server.
2. Choose Start > Run and run cmd.
For example, if the U2000 is installed in D:\oss, run the following command in the
screen that is displayed:
cd /d D:\oss\cau\bin (Press Enter after the command is input.)
cau.bat (Press Enter after the command is input.)

A window is displayed to show the CAU updating process, which takes approximately 3
to 4 minutes.

The window is close after the update is completed, indicating that the CAU
reorganization is successful.
Step 4 Optional: Manually delete the NetStar O&M installation files from the U2000 installation
path.
 mdsinstall\server\tools\mds\bin
 mdsinstall\client

OptiX NetStar O&M
Patch Installation Guide 01 (Standalone Windows
System) 4 FAQ

4 FAQ

4.1 How to Verifying Software Package Integrity

To prevent software packages from being tampered or damaged during transmission, which
may risk the carrier network security, you must verify the software package integrity after
obtaining the software packages. Only verified software packages can be deployed.
 GNU Privacy Guard for Windows (Gpg4Win) is a free tool, which can verify the
OpenPGP signatures in the Windows operating system.
 Software packages and signature files are placed in the same directory and one software
package maps one signature file. A signature file is released with the mapping software
package by the product line.
 The signature file name extension is asc. Usually the part preceding the extension in the
name of a signature file is the same as the file name (including the extension) of the
mapping software package. For example, if a software package is V100R001C04.zip, the
file name of the mapping signature file is V100R001C04.zip.asc.
For the method of checking software package integrity, see the OpenPGP Signature
Verification Guide.
