THREE SWOT ANALYSIS AS PER MIDTERM REQUIREMENT FOR PROGRAM

MANAGEMENT

1. SWOT ANALYSIS FOR THE CASE STUDY WORKERS’ COMPLIANCE TO HEALTH

AND SAFETY

The study somehow addresses the needs and demand of lower cost of pavement construction.

This shows how the professionals within the industry are eager to address and resolve important

issues that are within the construction trying to resolve the cost and quality issues revolving

around the road construction. Important characteristic is tested and considered and resulted into

the study’s advantage. This is of great importance to support the study with an evidence and use

the result as basis for decision making and analysis of whether the study is viable or not. However,

there were weakness enumerated as follows:

1. Non-Availability of right machineries

Since it will use reclaimed pavement, somehow there will be an effect to the machine when

same machine refining/fabricating of new pavement

2. Availability of reclaimed pavement material

Is there a significant amount/volume to where the materials/reclaim ones will be sourced

out? There is also a possibility that some pavements that are somehow considered good

will be reclaim just to justify and produce materials in experimenting/launching the study

3. Lack of organizational knowledge

Three key reasons why actively managing knowledge is important to a company’s success

are:
  Facilitates decision-making capabilities

 Builds learning organizations by making learning routine, and,

 Stimulates cultural change and innovation.

Though, these weaknesses are important factors, weighing its cost over benefit through an

opportunity and threat assessment may help to either to decide to have a further study or the data

gathered is enough and proceed with implementations or if the study is not feasible. opportunities

cited are establishment of set of guidelines for the setting the criteria, standards and policies to be

implemented, invention of new machineries fitted for the use of reclaimed material processing,

lower cost of maintenance and construction, and supporting sustainability. Threats on the other

hand are the following: resistance to the new material and technology, new regulations, and to the

new product use. wrong Mixture that can result to design failure or possible health risk which is not

considered during the research and increase in energy consumption

2. SWOT ANALYSIS FOR THE CASE STUDY COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE

BEHAVIOR OF STEEL PLATE SHEAR WALLS WITH DIFFERENT BOUNDARY

ELEMENTS UNDER CYCLIC LOADING

The study gives a great comparison of two materials with same specification but different

shape and orientation. It shows how shape use may have different strength and properties

in terms of structural design. Furthermore, the study also shows were the structure being

tested may fail which can be noted for the improvement of the structure tested.

Obvious weakness was cited as follows: it is limited to comparison of two shape and size

but different cross sectional area, therefore advantage on strength will not only be a

consideration but an advantage or on being cost effective, it the client( if implemented) will

be willing to shed additional cost?

Though, in the presence of weakness and strength the studies above, opportunity like:

additional study on different material specification and different shapes use with smaller

cross-sectional area but almost the same design strength. Additional study on the
 weakness plane of the structure (the connections at the bottom) can also be considered for

further study to eliminate threats of failing of the structure, and non-applicable of design

shape to the type of infrastructure to be build.

3. SWOT ANALYSIS FOR THE CASE STUDY OF” LANDSLIDE SUSCEPTIBILITY MAPPING:

A COMPARISON BETWEEN LOGISTIC REGRESSION AND MULTIVARIATE

ADAPTIVE REGRESSION SPLINE MODELS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF OUDKA,

NORTHERN OF MOROCCO”

This research shows its strength giving importance to a disastrous event specifically landslide that

needed an engineering solution as they are the most widespread disaster in the world in terms of

loss of life and damage to social economies. It also emphasizes that needed attention to address

landslide on critical areas. It also is very logical using many statistic and mathematical formula.

Weakness cited however, is the area is very limited only. Opportunity, is that it can be a great venue

for the construction industry to find solutions and construct possible infrastructure or material that

will lessen the damages or even avoid landslide. Threats is that we may the action late if the

projection is not correct, many life and property is at risk.
