TO MY FELLOW YOUTH
One of the literary pieces of Rizal is To My Fellow Youth, this is a poem about the love of
one’s native language written in Tagalog.  It is widely attributed to the Filipino national
hero José Rizal, who supposedly wrote it in 1868 at the age of seven. Actually there is no
evidence to support the authorship of Rizal and several historians believes that this poems
was either to  Gabriel Beato Francisco or Herminigildo Cruz.

This poem has taught too many of the Filipino citizen that brings the message to our youth.
The message is all about on how we should treasure and cherish our own languages, cultures
and values. He wrote this when he was just eight years old, imagine his linguistic
communications and the way he express those words is one of an early skills and talents that
he made everyone believed and proud of him.

In the first stanza wherein Rizal told to everyone to love our own linguistic communication
and use this as long as they truly know the essence of our own literacy. As we go on to the
second stanza, Love and usage of one’s native linguas was one of the badges of a true
nationalist. In the succeeding stanza, you can read and analysed of what Dr. Jose Rizal trying
to tell on this part of the poem, he simply told that once a citizen forget his or her home land
if they stepped inside of the other country, this must be called worse more than the beasts and
putrid fish.

And with the last two lines from the third stanza. Rizal addressed to us that our ain linguistic
communication must be cherished and should not be forgotten because it’s a really valuable
ownership of our ain state. Once we are born to our home land, we shall respect and loyal to
our fellow people, to our leaders and of course to our Mother Nature.

There was nothing wrong if we communicate or become friends of the other country. The
point is when we are also loving to adapt their cultures and traditional, we need also to
remember that we have our own phase and cultures. As what we see todays, most of the
youth loves kpop, kdrama, and other movies that came from to different countries, as what
I’ve been told there is nothing wrong to admire their cultures and lifestyle. It is part and
natural feelings of why we admire their ways of living. In fact if we love how beautiful and
wealth of their country, we must do a thing to achieve and help our own land to become one
of the admirable country in the World.

The first thing to do is we should love and promote our local products and items that made
from love and efforts of the local artists, painters, etc. Try to visit every edge of the
Philippines there would be probably a beautiful spot and unbelievable creatures of our
Mother Earth. Before you go to other country you must surely visit first the provinces, island
and mountains here in the Philippines.

Finally the last stanza, when learning to love and appreciate our own languages, cultures,
lifestyle and traditions, there was colonizers who love to conquer the other country because
of greediness. Rizal’s message to this last stanza, though this colonizer influenced and force
us to worship them, we should try our best to love and learn our own culture and mother land.

As what we observed, of course each of the country has their own meaning of alphabets,
body languages and gestures. Like of us we have our own ways on how to communicate and
get interact to our fellow human. You cannot remove the blood that running to your veins,
you cannot just simply forget your own race, and you cannot change where you have been.

As a youth today, I admire and proud to Rizal of how he devoted to his own land. He
expressed and created different literacy pieces to show his braveness and to fight against to
enemies. He also give helped to cure people when most especially the eyes. Our National
Hero helps the country by his own will and right to face the challenges and dilemma.

I promise I will not be blind from this different issues and problems of what we’ve been saw
and witnessed the anomalies of our government while facing this pandemic.
