Delancey Street Video

The Delancey Street Foundation, first established in San Francisco, California, is

now expanding to other states also to other countries. People in Delancey Street don’t
have any labels because most of them are prison before. I think Delancey Street helps
people who have bad records. In Delancey Street, they provide many different
businesses and things in this company. It includes many different jobs such as
warehouse work, automotive, truck repair, auto body, auto painting, offices,
everything from the central office, finance, accounting. Therefore, People who work
here not always stay in one position, they will move around every semester in
different jobs so they can know which jobs will good at it and learn more skills. In
Delancey Street, people change their behavior because they have many chances to
improve their life which is better than staying in jail. They don’t have any labels
because most of them are criminals before. In Delancey Street, they give their second
chance to have hope to become a better person than before. I think Delancey street's
goal is to be a light to guide people who lose in their life. Also, like a hand to pull
people from darkness and join society again.
Delancey Street will help people who wrote letters from jail, and they go to
prison every day to interview prisoners. I think maybe they can give each of the
prisoners a form because maybe some prisoners give up to return to society. If they
have the job form in their hands, more like society, they need their help. My opinion
about programs such as Delancey Street is the best program because prisoners are a
group of people that need help in our society; they may get race from other people. If
a prisoner stands in front of me, I may get scared and walk away from them.
However, Delancey Street believe those people give them second chances to let them
be part of our society and enjoy their life. I personally really appreciate we have this
kind of program to help them. On the other hand, I was worry about if they will
commit a crime for no reason, maybe there should have punishment for those people.

I agree with you that prisoners work for society is hard because they do have
labels but Delancey Street give them second chances to help them. I think we should
spreading the news to everyone who need help. We should have volunteer programs
about it. If Delancey Street can give them a chance I think society should give them a
chance too.

I like your explanation that they don’t have labels, and all they have is each other.
It feels like this company is a small society. The Prisoners represent individual and
interdependence to Delancey Street as a society. I think they should not choose from
Delancey Street or conviction. I think they should get conviction first after conviction
they can choose to go to Delancey Street if they want.
