ASSIGNMENT#3 (SOCIOLOGY)

Secondary groups are basically those type of groups in which we share/exchange services/commodities
etc, it would rather be an over estimation to say that secondary groups are basically acquaintances as
acquaintances literally mean the person is on the path of entering your primary group circle. Each and
every person present has had secondary group interactions, these interactions can turn out to be also
really close but the probability of a person entering from a secondary group to the primary group is
approximately zero as interactions frequency goes to a dead end when the time period/phase during
which in that period you are forced to have a interaction whether you like it or not ends, for example
university students have to compromise, they cannot make their semester projects, Final Year Projects
etc with their friends or people who are compatible with them rather at some point they will have to
adjust with someone out of their social bubble.

The other question that has been raised is whether secondary group interactions are informal or formal.
Well there isn’t any straight answer to that question but by thorough analysis a person can judge
whether the secondary interaction is formal or informal. The main purpose for a secondary group
interaction is basically to achieve a common goal via the efforts put down by the fellow members
present in the group. Statistically we can interpret that social groups 80% of the time are formal
interaction as mostly interact with that specific group so to achieve that specific set of goals that’s it.
The secondary group can be informal, mostly in definitions it’s clearly stated that secondary group
interaction is fully formal but as sociology is also a branch of science and there isn’t any hard and fast
rule to follow the same direction. Like in Pakistan statistically mostly marriages occur between people
who are classmates, officemates etc now these all are places on which secondary interaction occur but
who knows when the secondary interaction converts into a primary group interaction. The dynamics of
this interaction depends upon location to location and vary but globally it has been accepted that
secondary group interaction is totally formal, usually large number of people are involved in this
interaction and is basically a goal oriented group
