2. What is Business communication?

Business communication

Business communication is known simply as communications. It encompasses a variety of


topics ,including :marketing ,branding customer, relations, consumer behavior, advertising
,public relations just to mention a few .It is a form of communication that is used to promote
products ,services and organizations and deal with legal and similar issues .It is also a means
of relaying between a supply chains ,for example the consumer and manufacturer. In
business, the term communications encompasses various channels of communication
including the internet, print, radio, TV, Outdoor and word of mouth. It can also refer to
internal communication. Communications director will typically manage internal
communication and craft massagers sent to employees. It is vital that internal
communications are managed properly because a poorly crafted message could foster distrust
or hostility from employees. It is also a common topic included in the curricula of Masters of
Business Administration –MBA- programs of many universities.

It is somewhat different and unique from other types of communication since the purpose of
business is to get profit. Thus, to make good way for profit, the communicator should develop
good communication skills. Everyone knows that nowadays knowledge alone is not enough
to lead to sustainably development.Recognising the importance of communication; many
organizations started training their employees in betterment of communication techniques.

Used to+ -ing form

The verb form to be +used to + -ing -indicates that you are in the habit of doing something.

e.g: I am used to phoning my business manager

The verb form to get +used to + -Ing indicates that you are becoming familiar with
something.

I can’t get used to doing all my banking online.

Phrasal verbs-are verbs which we use with preposition or adverbs to make new
meanings .Some phrasal verbs are intransitive verbs. We can’t be split .We must use the verb
and the preposition next to each other.

e.g.; please would you hold on?


Some phrasal verbs are transitive, so they can take an object. The verb and the preposition
can also be spilt or separated.

See the following examples:

I will put you through to Mr Lopes.

They have decided to call the meeting off .

First condition

Is used when we want to say that one situation (described in the main clause) depends on
another situation, we use the conditional clause. Conditional clause usually starts with if.

e.g. John will pass his exam if he studies hard.

If Pedro win the championship, they will be happy.

Second Conditional

Is used when we want to talk about situations or actions in the present or future, which are
not likely to happen or are imaginary, hypothetical or even impossible.

Structure: If+ past simple+ would infinitive.

e.g. If I won the lottery I would buy a house

If she cooked, we would enjoy the meal

Complete the sentences with a correct possible ending.
