Introduction

This critical essay will be mainly emphasizing and discussing on the key issues
of the main article as well as the critique of the article of Globalisation or glocalisation
(Robertson, 2012) in Session 2. The article, “Globalisation or Glocalisation” by
(Robertson, 2012) is informative and insightful because the author mentioned that
Globalisation is an essential and useful factor for the communities in terms of
communication because every day they are being influenced by the transmission of
messages over communication. This is because without that, things especially around
the environment cannot be able to make changes as well as they may not be able to
receive timely information according to the situations. The term ‘Globalisation’ states
that, it is a process (Cambridge, 2017) whereby other countries and trading across the
globe work progressively conveniently together to achieve success and mutual
understandings. Furthermore, it also describes that globalisation recognizes the regions
organizing rather than remaining isolated and also indicates a huge efficiency and
political collaboration internationally as more and more opinions are shared (Cambridge,
2017). Moreover, the term mentions the world with freer exports and imports as well as
the transmission of capital, equipment and supplies across the boundaries.
Globalisation also notices the distribution of popular skills (Times, 2017) between the
states while it has been overwhelmed mostly by the businesses.
The term ‘Glocalisation’ mentions that, it is a key theory (Rouse, 2013) in which
the international market, a brand or supply is more likely to gain success when it is
made-to-order for the locality or the ability in which it is taken. Moreover, it is the
combination of the words ‘globalisation’ and ‘localisation’ in which the system allows the
assimilation of regional markets into the global markets. The argument for this critical
essay is that, without having the influence of globalisation and glocalisation among the
societies, the communities may seem that they are really far apart in today’s world as
well as also they might seem disconnected with the current world’s situation to get in
touch with the latest news. Furthermore, without having these influences among the
communities, the societies will not be showing an interest on the topic as well as also
they will not be able to know the updated information on the topic to know it on time.
This is to alert the communities so that they may be able to know the circumstances

what is happening around their surroundings and the news should be spread up-to-date
in order that the news are being factual and trustworthy so that the target audiences will
try to believe and understand about the situation.
The following paragraphs would also be emphasizing, elaborating and discussing
mainly about the argument between globalisation and glocalisation as well as also the
best parts in the article of globalisation and glocalisation which suits the audiences.

Summary of the article (Globalisation or Glocalisation)

This article examines about the different aspects of the issues on globalisation as
well as also the concept of the notion on the issue of glocalisation. Globalisation tell us
more about that it is supposedly believed as the participation of cultural
homogenization; even more especially, as a way containing the developing influence of
one social or the local culture over the entire balances. The author argues that there is
no more way to define globalisation generally in terms of homogenization. Moreover,
the article stated that culture and mediasation can influence globalisation. Furthermore,
it also tell us that mediasation also played a key role in today’s world as well as also it is
a kind of development of communication.

Analysis of the article

The analysis of the article mentioned that there were almost different features in
the concepts of globalisation as well as also glocalisation. The things and expressions
what I liked the best is that the author mentioned that as the years passed by,
technology changed things accordingly over time on the concept of globalisation. This is
because technology almost played an important role in our lives as they carried mostly
important feedbacks to the target audiences. Technology is very efficient and effective
in some ways that it can easily do many things for the societies within a short period of
time. Technology also developed culture and globalisation as well as the overcoming of
the separation of the person from the modernized world constructed by the technical
manufacturing and the layout.

The other things and expressions what I dislike about the article is that, culture
should not be applied through the concept of the notion of glocalisation because it can
have much more impacts and arguments on the issue like culture and racism. For
example, we should not try to relate the conversational and interactive linking of the
cultures with the notion of homogenization of all cultures. Furthermore, globalisation
should not be used only among the nations and local communities (Kundi, 2017) but
also throughout the whole world to discuss the necessary issues so that each and every
country can try to regulate their issues what they are facing in today’s world.
Globalisation and culture should be combined together because they represent
the context of each other. For example, the spreading of globalisation (Mishra, 2008)
and culture among certain dishes such as Western junk food like MacDonald’s can be
used to represent globalisation and culture together as their shops are opened across
globally (Pagel, 2014) so that the society may want to learn their new techniques and
culture as well.
Moreover, the thing I like here about the article is that, mediasation is essential in
part of the globalisation because with the aid of that, the most important news can make
more regulation and developments as well. Mediasation is an important part because
with that, there will be no restrictions and effects which can then help to spread news
among the societies. With the ease and aid of mediasation, the regulation of news will
be factual and accurate so that the establishing of news will be on time to the
communities. Without that, the societies may not be able to voice out their opinions and
thoughts as well as their voices may not be heard globally in what they are trying to
give.
Ideology (Beams, 1998) also played most of the important role between the
concept of globalisation and glocalisation (Swyngedouw, 2010) and the societies as well
because every day they are almost used to transmit important information to the
communities and without that, people might be seem disconnected with each other and
they would not be able to know what is happening in which part of the circumstances.

Conclusion
This article should be read because it informed and provided us (the readers)
with more knowledgeable things as well as giving more and more educational things to
the readers to make them keeping up-to-date with the current news websites. Also, it
tries to engage the audiences in a more lively way by the usage of expressions as well
as the key words and concepts which try to influence in their daily routines. The factors
mainly: culture and education is mostly important for the societies as well as for this
article because these factors can try to keep in touch with the latest and current news
as well as also keeping up-to-date with the latest information to the societies in order to
let them know it on time. Overall, I think that not only just globalisation can try to help
solve the society’s needs and issue but also glocalisation is also trying to fulfill people’s
need and want.
